I have a different perspective. As someone who knows next to nothing about quantum computing, if I read an article that says a 13,000 qubit machine can do X and IBM has a 127 qubit machine and plans a 1,000 qubit machine, I really *do* want to know that the existing 5,000 qubit machine is less suitable for cryptography. I'm glad the article mentioned that. I'm less glad you said it was irrelevant, and that "less" should have been "not at all".
