If you walk into a bar here in Northern California and ask for a pint of whatever is tasty today, you'll get 20oz of beer. If you bitch that it's either 4oz or 23ml too much, you'll probably be shown the door under a shower of peanuts. And quite rightly.
A litre of beer sometimes hits the spot quite nicely.
Being a childish pedant is no way to get a beer bought for you.
