US Navy backs right to repair after $13B carrier crew left half-fed by contractor-locked ovens

StinkyMcStinkFace

This isn't a Navy issue

The question is not why the Navy is allowing this disaster, why is ANYONE in the world buying something that they can't repair?

I certainly would never buy something like that. I fix my own cars, my own tractors, home appliances, even my heat pump. I do my own plumbing. I've rebuilt 3 car engines, I don't anymore because I don't have the time, but that's not the car manufacturer's choice, it's MINE.

It's my choice. No one is going to take that away from me.

If your product is not repairable, I'm not even going to consider it for purchase. You don't exist.

I'm talking to you, John Deere.

Exchange Server 2019 has less than six months of support left in the tank

Arrogance

The supreme arrogance of corporations like Microsoft and VMware is beyond belief.

Microsoft: no, you are NOT bullying us to give up our on prem exchange servers.

Microsoft no, you are not bullying us to stop using Windows 10.

VMware, no, I'm not paying a billion dollars for your absurd subscription. Hello Proxmox.

GET BENT.

IBM US cuts may run deeper than feared ‒ and the jobs are heading to India

StinkyMcStinkFace

Been there

I worked for a company and they started outsourcing 25% of our software development to China. It was horrific. One evening I was sitting in the CEO's office and I said, you know, ALL the code we get back from China is rubbish. It's completely unusable and we have to throw it away and rewrite it ourselves.

He looked at me with no expression and said "We know. You're getting paid, just do your job." I sat there with my jaw on the floor....

Insiders say IBM's broader return-to-office plan hits older, more expensive staff hard

IBM: I've Been Moved

Friends of mine who are unfortunate to work for this ghastly company tell me that IBM stands of I've Been Moved.

This goes back over 30 years.

IBM forces employees to move so they cannot develop friendships at work.

I remember them being relevant back in the 70's, mainframe days, but Jesus.

IBM needs to go away along with Microsoft. I can't believe they are still in business.

Exchange update refusenik? Consider yourself warned by Microsoft

StinkyMcStinkFace

Exchange is not dead, MICROSOFT IS DEAD

The company I knew 30 years ago that provided a decent product that you could purchase and use... is dead. Microsoft no longer exists.

The steaming pile of crap we have now is all that remains of a once good corporation.

They were never perfect by a long shot, but at least you could buy something and use it effectively.

That no longer exists.

There is nothing wrong with Exchange or Windows 10.

There is something wrong with Microsoft corporation.

StinkyMcStinkFace

O365 / gmail / yahoo

We don't outright block o-365, but we do mark it as suspect and untrusted because it is from Microsoft's cloud.

I may end up blocking gmail entirely, because it's almost 100% spam at this point.

Either step up and be a proper sysadmin or get out of our way.

StinkyMcStinkFace

Exchange on prem is dead huh?

I've been running Exchange since version 5.0. 1990 or so.

I can assure you my servers are not dead.

But I will be dead before I put my data "in the cloud" or pay a subscription - for ANYTHING.

Microsoft to force Windows 11 24H2 on Home and Pro users

StinkyMcStinkFace

Tyranny

This is not about W11 is better or worse than W10. It's about TYRANNY. Its about these corporations saying YOU WILL DO THIS, we OWN YOU. You have NO CHOICE. OBEY. YOU WILL INSTALL OUR UPDATE weather you want it or not! Your choice means NOTHING to us.

This represents a complete shift from how the world was when I was a child. Corporations think they are our new unelected rulers. I have a BIG problem with this.

I will NOT comply.

A New Year's gift from Microsoft: Surprise, your scanners don't work

StinkyMcStinkFace

OMG why are you using windows 11?

Apparently the same people using win 11 are the people who using HP printers. I'm seeing a pattern here.

Sorry, no offense, but damn....

Re: "as it would pass through the rotating blades during flight"

a DUCK!

Microsoft Exchange update fixes security flaws, breaks other stuff

StinkyMcStinkFace

it clearly needs to reevaluate its testing practices

LOL!!!! The What?

No pilot? No problem! EHang's autonomous air taxis take off in Thailand

StinkyMcStinkFace

Where are we going to test this thing?

They were in the board room trying to figure out where to test this craft.

No one has any ideas? Nothing?

Well then, Phuket.

Voice-enabled AI agents can automate everything, even your phone scams

StinkyMcStinkFace

You want to solve this problem or not?

This is not complicated.

We cannot prosecute the criminals in India making these calls, because our laws don't apply there.

But we absolutely can prosecute the VOIP providers in the USA who are knowingly and willingly passing OBVIOUSLY fraudulent, spoofed calls to American victims.

Shut them DOWN, as in TODAY.

Arrest the CEO's.

Liquidate the companies to pay restitution to the victims.

FCC fines be damned, ESPN misuses emergency alert tones yet again

StinkyMcStinkFace

Since corporations are now considered "people", let's execute ESPN.

SAP support auto-renewal gotcha: Do nothing now, pay for another year

StinkyMcStinkFace

I read this article and I have no idea what SAP is. Did some search and found a company called SAP and read their website.

I STILL have no clue what SAP is.

Did some searching on "what is sap?". There are whole pages of people discussing WTF is SAP?

I read all that and I STILL have no clue what SAP is.

But I'm glad they are apparently doing well! Phew.

Apparently they are cloud mongers, so it's no surprise I would be VERY far away from them.

Admins using Windows Server Update Services up in arms as Microsoft deprecates feature

StinkyMcStinkFace

This is NOT about WSUS!

Every single week I see another thing that Microsoft is RIPPING away from me, without my consent.

WIndows 10 (the last version of windows ever) now being FORCED to go to 11 with ads.

Exchange Server with critical features being disabled: i.e. Unified Messaging.

Windows Mixed Reality being DELETED by force, ruining Microsoft Flight Simulator Virtual Reality which I spent thousands of dollars in hardware to support.

This is not about WSUS, it's a pattern. A pattern of abuse and anti-consumer behavior from Microsoft that started years ago.

And yes, add us to the list of GET OFF MICROSOFT PRODUCTS AT ALL COSTS!

I am one-by-one moving everything to Linux. It's a long road, but we are getting there.

> You can't stop tesla.

Oh my god of course you can. Don't buy a Tesla.

There are hundreds of reasons why my family will never submit to that shit. NEVER.

In fact, don't even bring one to my driveway to visit. If you are a tesla owner, we are not friends.

Re: Another strong argument...

I use HAM radio, and 900 mhz for local coms with friends who don't have a license.

StinkyMcStinkFace

This really shows you how far up their asses executives have their heads.

This will maximize revenue. NO, it wont. Because customer will be running away from you.

Morons.

StinkyMcStinkFace

If I am in a store shopping, and they start blasting ads on the background music speakers, I just walk out.

StinkyMcStinkFace

Yeah.... No.

No, really, please ban Chinese DJI drones from America's skies, senators are urged

StinkyMcStinkFace

No, the handheld controller connects to the Internet by WIFI and uploads flight logs and also get authorization to fly from DJI. No internet, no fly.

You can read countless stories of people vacations that were ruined because of this. Like people to spent a fortune to go on safari in africa and took the DJI drone, only to find that it would not take off due to no internet there in the bush.

I own two of them, I know how they work. I hate and despise DJI the company. The drone itself is great. The crippling spyware is horrific. My next drone will be home built.

I just bought a new tractor this fall.

Guess what, I skipped John Deere. This is why.

Ubisoft? I started boycotting them over a decade ago.

BMW? Don't even go there.

HP? This is the last HP product I will ever own (rent).

Micro Focus bought by Canada's OpenText for $6b

As someone who worked for 2 corporations that were bought and destroyed by MF, and also worked for MF itself for 10 years, you guys at Opentext have my sincere condolences.

VMware president sees some 'anxiety' at customers who've seen Broadcom at work

StinkyMcStinkFace

Let's just cut right to the chase, ok?

VMWare is dead. It was dead the day announced the broadcom cancer infected it.

Some people haven't admitted to themselves yet, but they will.

Some of us who have decades of experience in this, and major gov contracts, already know it's dead and we are pissed off, but working on a migration plan.

VMware offers cloudy upgrade lifeline to legacy vCenter users

StinkyMcStinkFace

Re: Pain incoming

The "pain coming" is the work I have to put in to migrate all my servers and services OFF of VMware onto another platform.

You think you are going to bully us into moving to "the cloud" like MicroSquish is trying to do with Office 359?

F YOU!

It was a good ride while it lasted. I'm done with Microsoft and I'm done with VMware.

I'll drink a toast to your stock plummeting.

New York to get first right-to-repair law for electronics

StinkyMcStinkFace

You are going about this the wrong way. Apple is abusive to it's customers, so boycott them. I have boycotted them even long before this right to repair thing was a thing. In fact, my company gave me an iPhone for business use, for free, and I made them replace it with another manufacturer, I will NOT use any apple device for any reason.

In the 15 minutes I had my iPhone, I tried to install a 2-factor device, the very first thing I did with it. And I was told I could not, as it was an approved by Apple device.

F- YOU apple. I hate you, and I hate your products. Bye.

The first step to data privacy is admitting you have a problem, Google

StinkyMcStinkFace

Google doesn't "HAVE" a problem. Google "IS" a problem.

We block their stuff at the firewall level.

Someone here said they exist to make money. No they don't, they exist to spy on people and harvest your data.

Teach your kids to stop using the term "google for something", it's a problem that is embedded in the fabric of society and they need to be stomped out.

Nvidia outlines subscription-fueled journey to $1tr revenue

StinkyMcStinkFace

You compare this to Tesla like this is a good thing?

This is THE reason why I'll never buy a Tesla.

I'm all on board for electric vehicles, I've owned hybrids since 2005. Now I have a plug-in. Because of this bullshit Tesla is a non-starter as far as I'm concerned.

NEVER do SAAS. I'll be a dirt farmer before I do subscriptions.

Mozilla creates paid-for subscriptions for web doc library

StinkyMcStinkFace

yes, let them burn

People seem to be forgetting that Mozilla announced their censorship model that is baked into the product. They block what you can browse, at the browser level, even before plug-ins or extensions.

I think burn-in-hell is an appropriate response to that.
