Yes and no.
I used Win10 then 11 for about a month on my laptop b4 wiping and installing Mint.
First time used Win personally since XP/Vista when it ended for me.
It is still basically WinXP with a new skin that still manages to feel old. And ugly. And out of tuch. Did I say ugly?
Say what u like about Apple, and I've said all u can imagne, but they are pretty in that classy way.
Download the app that switches off all the telementary and still you haven't probably switched it all off.
I feel like a whore's bitch whenever I use Google or MS. Both wiped from my life as much as possible now.
That is good. Really good. I too thought that level of meta-awareness had been stomped out by the 'progressives'.
But then, he isn't THAT bad. He's much better than knobhead Jobs. And... many successful people have a desire to be liked and succeed.
Honestly, I dont think I could do as good a job a Elon as done with all that power and money. I know he drinks deeply from the Tony Stark well, but even so, if I had that power and money, you'd all be dead!!! LOL
yeah and bring Blair, Bush. And Chruchill. He was technically a war criminal too, but was lucky to be on the winning side (bombing of Dersden was intended to target civilians = war crime)
What about Saudi Arabia and Yermen? What about Qatar with despicable rights for women?
That high horse u are on only has 3 legs.
And Chinese man say "1 finger pointing forward to blame, usually means 3 fingers pointing back at the pointer."

I love it.
Dont woz, Steve.
U didnt say anything wrong, u just got the mob on you. Pitchforks and flames will follow, probably.
They dont wanna hear it cause then they'd have to admit that they have been strung along by old media who are using ALL the chessy cliche taken from deep within the dusty archives.
It is: RUSSIA=NAZI (lol) UKR=Eleven Folk who must be saved from Sauron. I dont buy the innocent victim sh-t of UKR. It is like a small puppy poking a bear and then crying when the bear bites its head off. Dont mess with a bear if u are a puppy and definitely dont think the dog across the pond will back you up after u piss the bear off.
And finally, never have a fool as king.
Orwell should know, he did a lot of that for the BBC during WWII. Listen to the second part of The Road to Wigan Pier. It is nearly breathtaking how much he hated England and it's ruling of the world.
He sprouts poetically on the beauty of Burmese men and milks his middle-class guilt (at not being ruling) endlessly.
Course not. You work in It an you say that. LOL.
Have you thought of another career? Maybe babysitting might fit.
Musk is a tosser and looks weird as F. Who gives a monkey's arse? I don't but if Robot-face is reading and accepts my challenge I will fight him on the Common near me anytime! C'mon Elon, let's go.
" It's just one of the many echo chambers that the internet has faciltated."
What's this place then except an older version of Twitter? Most on here are now Luddites. The echoing of recurring Victor Meldrew-like topics of IT hated is still ringing in my ears from just this piece.
Social Media requires greater social skills to flourish in, just like the real world. Most of your failings with it are your failings.
The Register is not quite Radio4, but on it's way, when once it's was Noel's Swap Shop with Maggie Phelbin being hot hot hot.
Like both, but rather a bit more Maggie.
Hey hey,
Nice post, cause all the tree dwellers above are squeaking in delight. It's a nightmare of a noise. But if I pop them a few bananas they will calm down. And whilst the pure concepts of web3 are ineffable to them and as web4, 5,etc, will then be and they have accepted web3.
Anyway, enough about the bamboos...
"Users manage their own identity and credentials - "Not many will bother, partly because it is hard" wow, a boldly lazy and defeatist position somewhat at odds with the ~2 trillion in market cap the crypto world is floating. Looks like one or two people did manage to figure it out."
This is core to web3 ATM and the reason NFT's go for such high figures. Creating you, digitally, not through Facebook or Twitter (Web2.0) but without all the HTML crap of Web1. Tier statemt that people won't bother is the opposite to what I have seen.
web3 will be, as was 1 and 2.0, all thins to all people. YOu will find or be forced to find your nice there.
Agree completely, Linux UI is kitchen sink. Horrible. Always has been. Let's not even mention Ubuntu's orange and purple colour scheme. sick emoji.
Let's but honest. Mint, which I use, is Windows XP design based and ugly as hell. It can be made more bearable but customising it to look like an Apple or Windows 10/11.
Windows 10/11 is quite pretty in comparison. But surely then MacOS or iOS does the job? They do and are classy, but still naff. iOS14.x feels like it;s a re-skinned iOS from 10 years ago. So old-fashioned.
UX/UI is very very difficult. I bet none that said they hated it can do it. You probably dislike the 'creatives' that produce them, with their pretty clothes and silly fashions and ladies that follow them around. LOL
Besides which, you are barking up the wrong doorstep! A lot of new design comes from AI. We have nearly exhausted our own creative abilities in UI. Just image the sheer volume of people working on UI - not just the designers but all you users, testing, feeding back, etc. It is the hottest topic of the century.
BCI.
Thought your kind had been wiped from these forums: The Opera Trumpet Blower returns.
Opera was crap. It was ugly, unnecessarily quirky and worse still, the people that used it were the greatest bores.
No way did Opera have an 'unbelievable' gap in the mid 2000's. Firefox thrashed it. Dont think we havent forgotten all you Opera muppets on these forums through the years. I called for an "auto-downvote" feature to be added for Opera posts to give you an idea of what a bunch a steaming Tommy Tankers they all are, and you too.
I curse you to internet Hell; to 32k modem on win3 with a huge CRT and no glare screen for ever for your crimes against humanity.
Burn!!!!
I met Asimo 15 years ago at Suzuka and he was doing just fine. He even had a little dance.
And there were moments were I could see its 'intelligence' in action and it caught my breath.
Take a look on YouTube 2-minute Papers by Karl somebody to see how AI is developing. - especially in physics modelling where something in the past took days to process/render: those tasks can now be almost real-time - thanks to AI 'learning' how to do it.
As to whether this constitutes what we call AI is a different tell. AI really doesn't need a big chunk of our intelligence to survive. One leading AI chap wrote a short while ago that the biggest hurdle in AI ATM is the personification of AI.He went on to say that once we can move away from the dominant human model, there will be a big leap forward. And I agree with him.
Our dominant perception of intelligence can change.
I know loads of AV houses that will love these.
As mentioned above, when earning with the gear, buy nice or buy twice. plus, I have lost count of the hours and pounds lost when using cheaper computers/OS's in the past.
Apple are coming good again now that Ives and his Product Design w++k+r team aren't sailing the ship.
The BBC HAD to shift to reduce their luxurious spending and I bet it was a nightmare and ends up costing as much as the Macs.
Get off that high horse.
Who wants to waste their life getting familiar with Linux? There are much better things like women, money, fun fun fun in the sun sun sun. And if u do want to while away those precious moments of your life interacting with an operating system like it's early 1990's then go for it. Knock yourself out.
"Now explain to me how the one and only, what Redmond decrees, one size fits all approach of Windows caters to this diversity of Windows users you told us about."
I'll take this: Shut up, u muppet. Get back in that server room! We've told you about this before. You scare the ladies.
"Most charities don't have lots of dosh so any reduction in this sort of thing could impact their operations. Scumbags!"
Uh.. no. Almost all charities are money-making entities with fantastic tax breaks that bestow 'benevolence' upon those involved - maybe even a CBE.
In the painful 2 years of work in that area, I discovered an arena worse than blue-chip corp. The greed was MUCH greater at a charity - and not just the biggies but all of them. Dirty, begging pitiful greed.
Amazingly ungrateful. Poor payers. Terrible to work with. Don't give them an inch or they take 10miles. Scum cause at least blue-chip corp are honest about their work and intentions.
