AI to power the corporate Windows 11 refresh? Nobody's buying that

Re: "move Windows beyond its version-based desktop obsession"

How was it out of context?

The developer in question said: "Right now we’re releasing Windows 10, and because Windows 10 is the last version of Windows, we’re all still working on Windows 10."

Back in 2015, when the Verge contacted Microsoft to confirm that Windows 10 could possibly be the last version of Windows. The spokesperson did not dispute the claim but instead said: "Recent comments at Ignite about Windows 10 are reflective of the way Windows will be delivered as a service bringing new innovations and updates in an ongoing manner, with continuous value for our consumer and business customers."

Take Windows 11... please. Leaks confirm low numbers for Microsoft's latest OS

I mean in my experience, Windows 10 seems to break less than Windows 7 and is easier to recover from a borked state than Win7.

The newer task manager design is a major improvement over 7's and SMB 3.1 with AES is a nice to have too.

Re: Windows 10 the last Windows you will ever need

They're already committed to updating the Windows 10 codebase (Windows 10 LTSC 21H2 IoT) until January 2032 so I won't be surprised if they extend support until then

OOBE is the setup screens that you get when you first setup the computer, asking for your language, setting up your user account and privacy settings.

Re: Awwwww, poor Microsoft

Eh, I'm still somewhat daily driving a ThinkPad X220 with an i5-2520M on Windows 10 22H2. It works just fine and while a bit sluggish when you first land on the desktop, once OneDrive let's go of the CPU, it's fairly responsive and an acceptable user experience.

UK bans Chinese CCTV cameras on 'sensitive' government sites

Re: At what cost?

It's not that hard to find network cameras that aren't Chinese, Axis (Swedish) and Hanwha Techwin (formally Samsung) come to mind and they make their cameras outside of China and in fact Axis (not sure about Hanwha) make their design their own SOCs for their cameras.
