Euro monopoly cops to probe Microsoft for slipping Teams into Office

ElRegioLPL

Yes but surely something like Teams is something you'd expect to have in the Office 365 suite?

ElRegioLPL

I don't understand the issue here? If you're paying for the full Office subscription you are normally going to use Teams (included) over Slack (extra £)?

Mailchimp 'fesses up to second digital burglary in five months

ElRegioLPL

No idea how mailchimp remain the leader in this field. Their platform is too clunky and their prices... well. The less said the better, but there's a reason they got sold off for $12 billion.

Up to 18,000 Amazon workers in firing line as it chops cost

ElRegioLPL

Re: "job for life" died at the end of the 1980s, Amazon is no different!

Look at the timeline of Bezos stepping down and handing over to Jassy and it will make a bit more sense

ElRegioLPL

Re: "job for life" died at the end of the 1980s, Amazon is no different!

I don't really think you can compare Amazon to a 'normal' company when we're talking about percentages given Amazon have/had about 1.5m employees. We are still talking about 75,000 people.

Salesforce's new hires are less productive, says CEO Benioff

ElRegioLPL

The best way to get your new employees to improve is by publicly outing them all as being slow, inefficient & unproductive

I believe very recently someone else tried a similar tactic which resulted in 70% of their staff leaving and they're getting abused on their own platform, every day

Europe's USB-C deadline: Lightning must be struck from iPhone by December, 2024

ElRegioLPL

Re: EU market size.

December 2024 is enough time for them to get rid of their current stock. Remember they'll be selling it right up until the very last second by which point their overnight retail teams will have a good night ahead of them

ElRegioLPL

Re: EU market size.

The irony of this being Apple won't want to waste time & money shipping a different type to the UK so we'll probably end up with it anyway. They're probably thinking the UK will get forced to be 'in line' by the EU to keep trading as well.

This is what happens when you try trading with someone 10000x more powerful than you... "we have all the cards" etc etc (poo emoji)

This is the best pay offer you'll get without more strikes, union tells BT workers

Inflation is increasing the price of everything and yet wages are staying the same, so how can the companies really justify it?

Just the cost of doing business for these companies. This fine will just be to keep the EU happy which is why it's so low.

Twitter CISO flies the coop

ElRegioLPL

This is a very good shout. $1.3b a year interest on a loan for a company that barely makes a profit ... I think amongst those tax deductions will be bank share prices diving & some crazy people getting the sack. Probably get a nice pay off though so not quite the same if you or me lost the company we work for billions!

ElRegioLPL

Sooner or later the banks could end up calling his loans in if he carries on alienating the staff and user base like this. In reality that's probably the best outcome for them given they can't sell the debt on at the minute.

ElRegioLPL

Some of these comments are grim.

Berating people for wanting more money during a cost of living crisis when you all wouldn't think twice about asking for a pay rise yourself. You'd be hard pressed to even find a PHP Developer on less than £30k now. The median salary in the UK is £ 25,971. Electricity is going through the roof with potentially £5k of that £25k being spent on electric alone.

To say people go to food banks for 'free food' ? Fuck off and get a grip.
