Hey Microsoft – what ever happened to 'Developers, developers, developers'?

The MS company ethos: "We don't care if you get work done or not".

The MS company ethos: "We don't care if you get work done or not".

I started using their software sometime in the mid 80's, and made my living with it (DOS, networking, VS, VB6, VBA, C#, MS Access) up till 2010 or so when the constant bugs and utter lack of *care* about them drove me first to Linux ( thank god for that) and then PHP and Node.

My feeling was: *anything* to get away from MS trash.

I now use Teams on a daily basis, and this works well - and have been thinking MS must be getting better, but reading these replies convinces me nothing has really changed there.

Excel is for amateurs. To properly screw things up, those same amateurs need a copy of Access

In between dBase, Clipper and Foxpro and my current toolkit of Python, Node, PHP and MYSQL, I lived in and made a living in Access. For scores of clients I wrote hundreds of large and smalls apps; it was good kit for Windows machines on a LAN.

I can’t resist taking another shot at Microsoft and tell you that they trashed it starting around 2007 – they fiddled with the menu and file structures and made it harder to do serious work in; something analogous to what they are doing now with Win 10. No one at MS seems to care about users getting work accomplished -

It's been five years since Windows 10 hit: So... how's that working out for you all?

The core ethos of Microsoft as best I can tell: “We don't really care if you get work done or not.”
