For better or worse, the thing that drove C# adoption for many back in the day (C# 2.0-ish) was the temptation of making nice GUIs. Which other language can do that with the same amount of ease? Not Java, not Python, not C. Why not play to your strengths? Because for C#, it sure isn't the ecosystem.
