I mean, I get the Floyd reference but I'm doubting many do.

Microsoft decides it's a good time for bad UI to die
Reg scribe spends 80 hours in actual metaverse … and plans to keep visiting
I hate this adoption of more 'hidden' technology. Strapping your face to a device to be part of some SciFi novel realised.... Its not progressive and feels like it plays to the Trillionaire's narrative for the future and modern life.
I'm one of those people who worked in the first wave of VR for six years and then left to do other things.
Watching this new wave of VR wash over society, this time its got serious investment but also in terms of accessible technology. Where as it would take us a good 45 minutes to establish the hardware to run a crude VR scene - I now put the Occulus on in seconds and I am there.
The real trick with this and all modern technology is to strike the balance.
Take what YOU, need from the technology and then leave it. ALWAYS prioritise reality.
AWS Lambda was already serverless, now it can be x86-less too
Re: Serverless?
Is it though?
You leave a server running with AWS over a month with a set of Devops monitoring it can you realistically say that that is going to be cheaper than using a serverless approach?
If you have a Lambda that acquiesces between invocations it will always be cheaper.
To prove the point I wrote a dumb IG trading bot based solely off the free tier Lamda - yep - I made money from nothing...
I will accept that you may need to spend some time/money to refactor parts of your code base - but thats a one off cost.
The web was done right the first time. An ancient 3D banana shows Microsoft does a lot right, too
Looking for a new tech gig? Here are vacancies for web devs, games programmers, server engineers and more
Re: C# and Unity?
I've worked in scenarios where both are 'ok' but it depends on the business around it. Using a prepped engine and writing one from scratch.
Rolling your own engine is 'ok' but you can run into problems of needing new features and waiting for the development process to compelete them AND having the technical skills in place to produce them.
Using a pre built engine can be limiting in places but most of them have the ability to add your own features with hooks in the rendering pipeline.
Everyone knows frame rate is king.
Whats important is the business set up around it. If I see people who are able to turn up to work and leave at 5.30/6pm latest and there are no sleeping bags under the desk then I start to take interest.
I also look for a broad range of ages. If everyone is in their 20's and getting smashed at the weekend I'm not interested. No matter what the package.
I know this is a rambling post but if you are looking for a role like that - check out UNREAL?
