Correct. Our customers buy the functionality the software offers, not documentation. However, “more important” doesn’t mean that the documentation isn’t important.

In my experience, it’s normally project managers who consider it unimportant. Possibly because they are measured on hitting dates and budgets, not on code quality or maintainability.
