Been a coder for almost 40 years. On a huge ongoing project I was on about 10 years ago, we adopted agile stuff. Managers stayed out of our way, and in progress large tasks stayed in waterfall mode. It worked quite well; far better than I image.
But I certainly agree that new projects, you need to truly understand the real requirements and deliverables. Current project is using MS Azure DevOps and it is nearly impossible to track related tasks, etc.
I "fixed" a coworker's PC once in 1986 by adding a Lotus 1-2-3 auto-run macro to beep, pause 2 seconds, repeat.
A month later, when I turned on my PC, it "detected" moisture and started the spin cycle. My brain wasn't quite in gear yet, and my first thought was "Wow, what a neat feature!"
