One man is standing up to Donald Trump's ban on US chip tech going to Huawei. That man... is Donald Trump

Re: Imagine what it's like to work for this guy

I'm partial to the "Blumpf" ones, with the shruken face screaming Trump.

You have to hand it to those "dissident" right wing 4channers who meme'd Trump in to office in 2016. Within a couple days of turning on him, they had better anti-Trump memes than the left had managed in 3 years.

Re: Clueless he is.

Has it actually been confirmed he uses Adderrall?

I can't imagine it would be easy on the heart of a man his age and...size. Given his affinity for Diet Coke, Royale's with Cheese, and (at least) 2 scoops of ice cream.

Re: HPOX?

FWIW my mum has been with HP for 20+ years and she anticipates the consumer PC side will be "spun off" into a different brand if this goes through.

Could be some losses, but I expect moreso on the Enterprise/Printing side.

Re: AI 101

You're not kidding with "head and shoulders above the rest". I clicked to the homepage and, what I'm assuming is a biography of one of the lead contributors or founders, is absolutely phenomenal:

"Lisa Renee experienced a spontaneous Kundalini event several years ago that catalyzed a Starseed Awakening to perceive multidimensional realities and communication with the Evolutionary forces of Light. Lisa Renee has been personally contacted and then prepared, trained and downloaded by Interdimensional beings (Extra-terrestrial and Ultra-terrestrial, not from this Universe) known as the Krystal Star and Aurora Guardians. Guided by Guardians, Lisa was biologically upgraded to be downloaded to comprehend the Science of Ascension through the Law of One and its dynamics upon the layers of energy fields. This understanding of Consciousness Technologies was experienced by her own personal evolution and began her transition into an Multidimensional Guide and God-Sovereign-Free (GSF) Steward during this Planet’s Ascension Cycle. She is an Emissary for the Guardian Groups and a spokesperson for the shift of humanity to Ascension. Along with the Guardian Groups, her mission is to support humanity through its evolution with education, awareness and by discussing the impacts of the energy shifts upon the planet, human beings and human consciousness. She is an Ascension Guide, Planet Gridworker, Starseed Advocate, Humanitarian, Writer and Educator for Disclosure and World Humanism."

Just...wow.

"the nation's secrets"

Ah, yes, the CIA - a spotless organization known for having the best interests of the nation behind their every action. These backdoor hacking programs belong to THE NATION, damn it!

Re: WW III

I don't recall any news about a European nation pulling itself out of the Central Banking system...

So I wouldn't worry about a war.

I've just been informed by a dark corner of YouTube not to worry because "Satellites aren't real".

Checkmate, EU.

GitLab can proclaim diversity all it likes, but it seems to have a real problem keeping women on staff or in management

You're not wrong. I experienced it myself when I was still living in Toronto. Perfectly qualified, great reference from within the company and the team lead's pick following interviews - which overruled by HR. I got the full story from my buddy who referenced me.This was 3 years ago and the person selected didn't last a year.

I'm not mad in hindsight as I landed in an even better spot, with better pay, in a better location, but had I desperately needed that job it would have been devastating.

It's also worth noting just how...wrong that feels in downtown Toronto. There is no real "majority" population anymore. "Founding stock Canadians" or whatever you want to call us only make up ~40% of the population, likely far less by now. It was less than 50 as of 2015. You really have to wonder how low it needs to be before these practices stop.

Re: Something smells wrong

I feel like whole "unconscious bias" thing is an attempt by modern liberals to label what was previously known as "human instinct" as some sort of pathology.

But perhaps that's just the cynic in me. Or some sort of unconscious bias towards modern psychology.

WillCunningham

I think the bigger issue here is that the term "diversity" no longer accounts for diversity of thought. It's been bastardized by elements of the modern political sphere to simply mean "less white males".

The former is important, the latter is just racism that doesn't count as racism because allegedly you can't be racist to those people.

It's been one day since Blighty OK'd Huawei for parts of 5G – and US politicians haven't overreacted at all. Wait, what? Surveillance state commies?

Re: Canada

As a Canadian, it would seem the only thing our government is "speedy" with these days is acting on whatever the latest demands from the UN on refugee/migrant placement is.

Or blocking our Western provinces from actually utilizing their energy/oil potential, then getting it from China instead.

I'm not entirely certain a "Canadian" government really exists anymore. Trudeau considers us a "post national state". He seems to particularly resent our British/Anglo origins, so I'm interested to see how this would actually play out.

How do we not have the technology to go back in a more efficient manner?

I recently watched the Lunar Lander take off video for the first time and it looked like an empty can of Spam wrapped in aluminum being lifted by a string.

Do they not make canned Spam anymore? Is there an undocumented string shortage?
