I used K-9 for years but then needed Gmail authentication so switched to Bluemail. I've been very happy since, and have found it a good alternative to K-9, but will check out the new TB/K9 client when it's released.

I'm in the same boat, but with my domain hosted elsewhere for a tenner a year and MX records pointing to Gmail. What I'll do is use the free Gmail account I still have from 2012, repoint the MX records to where my domain is hosted and use my hosting service's free email redirection to forward emails to my old gmail account.

If you look on github there's a fair amount of work taking place on K9, and discussions just today regarding OAUTH2.
