Check out this Android spyware, says Microsoft, the home of a gazillion Windows flaws

Yeah. MS publish a very detailed doc every month for patch Tuesday declaring its exposed bits.

They publish every CVE. Which means you can see each CVSS 3 score.

Girls Who Code books 'banned' in some US classrooms

Tilda Rice

Re: "You cannot be what you cannot see"

That's why Critical Race Theory and the stuff they are pushing in classrooms and corporations is not actually inclusive. The language is divisive. It comes from the liberal left, and the language being adopted is from the US where they have hardly "solved" race relations.

Everyone, from every side needs to stop pointing fingers. Stop putting people into pots before they even know the other person.

Simply treat everyone how you would want to be treated yourself.

Re: You can laugh

Oh good grief. Still talking about Trump. Take a pill. You should be more worried about a bloke who can't manage a flight of stairs, or a sentence running the worlds primary super power more than some bloke who hasn't been doing the job for 2+ years.

Tilda Rice

Re: The last sentence of the article has it.

You're correct Terry. Both "sides" like to try and polarise their ideology, and the people they are accusing.

This comment section is everything that is wrong with modern social dialogue. We've gone to dinner with friends we've not seen for ages and all they want to do is pour out political poison like they can't breath or think about anything except their activistic mentality. Trying to preach about racism. Both white, both rich, both living in a remote part of Hampshire who know precisely zero about what its like to be brought up black in the UK. (but apparently know more about this subject than someone who lives in a mixed racial environment) Sad times. The legacy media and social media have made people awful versions of themselves. Sad really.

Tilda Rice

Re: The last sentence of the article has it.

I know the irony right. The left whose middle name is "cancel", getting all hot and steamy when they perceive someone from the other side doing exactly what they would do.

This ideological war is so, whatever. Humans finding ever more ways not to get along with each other.

How typical of the weirdy beardy types to downvote you, when you make some good points.

SMTP is inherently weak/spoofable.

All the DMARC / DNS bla bla lash ups in the world hasn't prevented spam.

IMAP <puke>

Even Activesync (superior to IMAP) has been replaced by Azure edge malarky in "modern" Outlook. Which at least makes the client side work, but SMTP still stinks in front.

He did qualify his statement with, nothing inciteful.

But opinion, or alternate narrative shouldn't be shut down, but often is.

Tilda Rice

Re: 'I have much trouble agreeing with'

Or the British Medical Journal article about poor clinical trials practices at Ventavia, being taken down as "no context".

Outrageous censorship to promote a singular narrative.

Tilda Rice

Re: 'I have much trouble agreeing with'

Or like the Hunter Biden laptop story that was in the public interest buried by the legacy and social media.

Or Facebook removing a British Medical journal highlighting the poor quality of clinical trials at Ventavia.

This isn't about some singular racist gammon, this is about what these big tech companies allow single humans (citizens or influential people like politicians) or entities like the BMJ to post.

Infosys quits Russia, ending UK political and tax scandal … maybe

Re: Perfect timing

Exactly John. This thread was only ever going to be a cue for the "its those people over there" types.

If the law needs to change, change it. But right now, she's not offside on any tax laws. I dare say many of the negative commenters would choose to take the most tax efficient route given an A / B choice. But its moral outrage if its "the enemy". It much the same way as multi millionaire Labour voters don't liquid their assets and give it away to poor people. Or let a homeless person take one of their second homes. Non dom status has been around for donkeys years. Its only news today in the social media wars in the personification of our politics. Her tiny in the grand scheme of things income pales compared to the large policy decisions over billions culminating in trillions any UK government manages.

Elon Musk's latest launch: An unsolicited Twitter takeover

Tilda Rice

Re: Musk is the leader

Good grief. Why is it that people who buy a different product are a "sheep" or have a positive view on another human are "cult members" or insert some other toxic word.

On the EV part. The reason people are pro Tesla EV isn't primarily the cars, its the charging network. That a) mostly works and b) is high powered. Versus the current public non Tesla charging stations which are sparse, often broken, often super slow/low powered.

The mashup of Merc parts and iphone on wheels device that is a Tesla isn't actually a terribly bad car either.

You seem bitter / jealous.

Cue nonsense comparisons to WinRT. Cue, people who have never actually used an 8cx PC

This thread will definitely be full of opinion, yet very little actual experience.

As someone who had a gen1, it ran cool (at odds with mr thejoelr above who clearly hasnt used one)

It ran silent

Battery life was awesome compared to an Intel or AMD equivalent of its vintage.

If the gen2 or gen 3 8cx improves the performance it will be great. Was perfectly fine as a daily driver for basic/standard office automation.

But don't let facts get in the way of a good whine / M$ bashing juvenile nonsense. Carry on.

Agreed. Agile is for new products with a broad conceptual idea. Its why the concept of minimum viable product exists.

But agile is being applied by people who think they are trendy, and want to avoid the dull rigour of waterfall. "yes yes, just let me get on with it - trust me I'm an expert".

Totally agree this would have been better with a traditional approach.

Re: Typical DoubleSpeak from the government.

You are being selective, here is my grab from DuckDuck News tab with Ottawa, going top to bottom:

(Left, definitely trying to characterise this as "right wing", disgraceful MSM as usual)

From the Guardian, literally the sub headlines:

"How did this ‘grassroots’ rebellion paralyse the Canadian capital? With funding from the far right and a boost from Facebook misinformation"

Mail Online:

"Brian Gregg, a long-haul driver for almost 30 years, drove from Indianapolis to Ottawa to support his fellow 'brother and sister Canadian truck drivers'

He tells DailyMail.com, 'I support them and will support them to the very end. These mandates need to stop they are hurting Canadian families'

Telegraph

"Inside the Ottawa protests: Food, hugs and fuel keep Canada truckers in it for long haul

As Canada's capital is brought to a standstill over vaccine rules, neglected blue-collar workers are making their voice heard"

Mail Online:

"Great-grandfather, 78, is handcuffed by Ottawa cops for HONKING his car horn in support of Freedom Convoy: Video of arrest which left 4ft 10ins elderly man bloodied and bruised emerges after Justin Trudeau smeared protesters as 'swastika-wavers'"

I've looked at the photos of these protests, if there are swastikas, very hard to see/find.

Just looks like Canadian flags.

Tilda Rice

Re: Sanctions

I'm very scared of what an unchecked regime could "accomplish"

The sanctions are not selling arms to a government that massacred people in Tiananmen Square. Human rights abuses in Tibet and Ughurs. (and preventing investments in Chinese military companies)

And sanctions against the use of critical infrastructure technology such as 5g from a regime that has the great firewall of china and is beyond intrusive / what most of us would consider be against our fundamental human rights.

None of those sanctions seem unreasonable?
