Perhaps when the product under review is so poor, el Reg could do it's readers a favour by pointing similar but better products, otherwise the review is pretty much a waste of time. I'll start the ball rolling with:
- Siemens C460IP: DECT handset with SIP client + ethernet/PSTN ports in the base station. Obviously no use outside of your own home or office, but far better coverage and battery life than a SIP+WiFi handset.
- Any number of Nokia handsets with integrated SIP client: Reviewed here by el Reg, and you'll probably get them for free or very little on top of your existing mobile contract. With the integrated browser, you can log onto WiFi hotspots too, further increasing it's utility over the EnGenius.
Now, I'm a very long way from being any kind of supporter of Microsoft or software patents, but one imagines that MS may actually be able to do some good with this patent; they can sue spyware/adware authors for patent infringement if they implement something like this.
On the other hand, it would be amusing to watch the anti-virus and security software vendors battling it out with Microsoft to write fixes for this MS-inflicted spyware. Amusing because I don't use Windows.
Gleb: I'm sure I won't be the first or last person to tell you this, but there is a vast universe of free and Free software out there that doesn't come with any kind of twist whatsoever.
Tony, I think you've hit the nail on the head there with the defence of your review; home users would be far better served by a NAS box, and business users quite possibly have a server anyway, and wouldn't touch Netgear kit with a barge pole due to the absence of meaningful support. And as for a product that's aimed at non-technical people, but requires mirroring be turned off ["Mirror? I didn't know it had a mirror on it"] in order to perform adequately, well, I think that speaks for itself.
One way you could redeem this review is to put the SC101-T head to head with the ZyXEL NSA-2400 in a variety of scenarios and tell us which one comes out the best in each.
No-one is asking the BBC to support Linux or Mac, just like they're not asking the BBC to support Windows. All we're asking for is the information necessary to write a client that can view the video streams on platforms other than the BBC can be bothered to write clients for. Who knows, a community-written player could end up being better than the official one, benefiting *everyone* who uses the BBC, regardless of OS.

Siemens have got a DECT on the market with an ethernet port and a SIP client built in. Would have been a good one to review as it can be used with decent VoIP services like Sipgate and voip.co.uk, and doesn't require a PC to be on in order to use it. It's also available at a sensible price.
...for the love of christ, stop posting irrelevant drivel like this. Or if you absolutely have to, why not set up a subdomain like drivel.theregister.co.uk so that I don't have to see any of it? I can just imagine myself saying, 30 years hence, "The Register turned into stileproject.com so slowly I didn't notice".
