China sets out world domination plan for its digital currency

IGotOut Silver badge

To be fair...

...it's about time other countries / continents broke up currencies.

As well as the Dollar, US payment systems such Visa, Mastercard, Paypal.

About time these became less dominate.

IGotOut Silver badge

Guess what.

If lazy or "I'm so important" types actually got of there arses and checked they haven't kicked out the plug, checked the printer has paper in it, rebooted the pc, checked the network cable is in, checked there is a power light on, rebooted the router, and on and on....then they may be able to a better response to real problems.

I always found the more remote a branch from the IT department, the less trivial issues they had. Waiting two days for an engineer to arrive on site made them actually check as well as each other.

Simple answer.

Make the Directors and Airlines that want to rush this through sign a contract that they will be liable for murder for any deaths caused by Aircraft malfunction due to design issues.

25 years and $10million per death. 50% for injury only.

Then we'll see how happily they will pass it off.

Pakistan to smartphone-makers: Come for the low tax, stay to create your replacements

IGotOut Silver badge

Re: Dear Pakistan.

Incorrect.

China set up 5 enterprise zones, creating low cost high volume industries.

At the same time they spent billions on educating children in STEM subjects. 15 years ago I attended my Ex's graduation at a top UK university. I'd say 80 to 90% of those getting Phds and Masters in Maths and Science were of Chinese decent. This is still the case today.

It's one thing stealing IP, but if your country is barely literate, what good does it do?

IGotOut Silver badge

Dear Pakistan.

This is not how it's done.

Improve your education system. Then you can improve all your kids futures and improve your outcomes. You can use these companies as a stop gap to bring in the cash while you do this. Its what China did very successfully.

Wanna live on the edge and play with a multi-core system crammed with 5G, AI? Here's a dev kit Qualcomm has in mind

The problem is it's half arsed stop gap.

It's not good enough to perform often simple common sense operations, yet makes driving so uneventful, so boring and mundane, that it is inevitable that drivers will stop paying attention.

If you have to drive for two hours, but for 1 hour 59 minutes you have to do nothing, human nature takes over and you will doze off or become less responsive.
