Going by the statement, it says activity malicious activity on the network.
It may be on a internal server that orders the pencils. As a precaution they gave taken everything offline until they can see what is wrong.
A sensible approach.

NASCAR engines are still made from cast iron, that's high tech USA engineering..... Oh and just to rub it in, many made in the UK. I know, we make them in the same foundry as diesel train engines.

My guess is you were using their branding or trademarks and they have every right to enforce their terms on this.
If you don't use their registered trademarks or branding there is absolutely nothing they can do.
In short, come to our wargaming club and play is OK. Come to our wargaming and play Warhammer 40,000 will be a trademark infringement.

Re Smart Thermostats / Timers
I know a few people who love them.
Oddly they are the people that work really random shift patterns (think NHS staff) so a 7 day timer is just a waste of time as the have to be reprogramed constantly.
Now they just turn it on before leaving work, saving money and energy on heating an empty house.

I thought I knew who this was...
Then noticed the London part.
One of our branches had an almost identical number to an adult film company (last two digits flipped).
Never noticed until marketing published it in a load of glossy brochures...
Still not as bad as the time the really screwed up and sent out 10,000 brochures with another similar number to one of ours, Barclaycards lost card number.
The marketing droids genius response "Do you think we can get them to divert their number to us?"

The problem is simple.
Microsoft got slapped down.
Since the Apple and Google have been allowed to pick off and go far further than MS did.
The problem you now have is how are the competition regulators going to deal with MS when the other two are equally as bad, if not more so.
They ALL need huge fines (think multi-billion) and default browsers removed. They should also be banned from shoving " This page would be better in...." on their own sites.

We do hear about this that and other hacked in the west, but it no doubt happens everywhere.
Take Wannacry, Russia was far worse hit than any other country and their banks are constantly hit.
Pretty sure NK with its tiny Internet presence is hit all the time as well.
In short, everyone is hacking everyone else
