Add in the fact most mobiles use randomised MAC addresses all the time.

We've only gone and done it: Changed what you're used to

IGotOut Silver badge

Terrible

Vivaldi Mobile.

Font sizes all over the place, depending if its a 1 or 2 column article. No idea why some are 1 column and others two

I can't see which articles I've read.

There's grey backgrounds, white backgrounds ,pink backgrounds, but no idea why.

Some articles have headings only.

Either side of the columns don't line up.

There are random blank areas.

.

It's a bloody mess. Change fine, but look at something like BBC news that is simple, but works.

Britain says Skyhammer drone interceptor passed Jordan tests with flying colors

IGotOut Silver badge
WTF?

Re: What the hell has happened to El. Reg?

It's a shitshow of bad UI design.

The articles are all over the place, I can't tell what I've previously visited and as for the one column , then two column, then back to one, sometimes white, sometimes grey backgrounds, font sizes that are all over the shop and some articles and leading text, some are just the title.

It's fucking horrible. It's so bad, even my local council has a better layout!

There is, of course, no air and no sound on the Moon, so a "Mach number" doesn't really make sense. But if there were air, the speed would be about Mach 7, seven times the speed of sound

"like the UK and Germany that have made massive 'investments' into 'renewables' have very high energy costs"

Let me educate you

"Why are electricity prices linked to gas?

The price of electricity is usually set by the price of gas-fired power plants in the UK, Italy and many other European markets.

This is due to the “marginal pricing” system used in most electricity markets globally.

......

As a result, whenever there is a spike in the cost of gas, electricity prices go up too."

The UK is aiming to break the link between gas and renewable energy.

You're welcome.

PowerPoint punishment sent users into an infinite loop after lunch

A much more brutal policy we enforced...

...laptops were not allowed to be left out overnight (we'd had quite a few stolen over the years).

So one night, the IT team went into every room and picked up every laptop left out (think it was around 40 or 50) then handed them to security.

Imagine the panic as they wandered in the next morning to find there laptop missing and "demanding a replacement urgently!"

We just told them we couldn't issue a replacement until it had been correctly reported as stolen to security. Security took great joy in taking all the details, lecturing them how they shouldn't have left them out and warning them it is a disciplinary offence....before handing them their laptop back.

We did this every few months, eventually they got the message.

Excellent idea. You've just shut down a lot of insider information.

How many comments on here are "Anon because....reasons".

I personally wouldn't post a lot of what I have done, because some of it would reveal who I am and with the slightest digging would reveal my past employer and possibly my current one. As I've post multiple time with background knowledge of my previous and current employers work, I'd probably get fired.
