Re: Legalized Bribery
Also they can be found guilty. Whereas bunging cash means they get away with it....again.

My 30 year old amp is still working just fine thanks.
Granted I had to add a no frills Bluetooth dongle to the aux input about 10 years, but that's still working great as well.
Upstairs I have a cheap ass Douk Audio / Nobsound amp in the bedroom and guess what....several years later, still going strong.
Rather than skim reading, read it properly, follow the links and try again.
Just one example
".... Chapman and her co-conspirators committed fraud and stole the identities of American citizens to enable individuals based overseas to pose as domestic, remote IT workers,"
"At Waymo we currently serve over 50 thousand weekly trips for our riders in some of the most challenging and complex environments,"'
I take it these twats have never left the North American landmass?
If you think the US grid layout is difficult, then you are well and truly screwed when it comes to much of Europe, Africa and Asia.
Your conflating a lot of issues.
Scooters catching fire:
When you buy the cheapest piece of crap off Wish couple with a charger with no regulator and has as little as possible copper in the cable, what do people expect?
ICE don't catch fire? I've seen plenty of cars, lorries and buses on fire in my time, and if it melts the tarmac, look for a resurface. However, that said, there IS a genuine issue with putting out the fires, but the same happened in the early days of ICE.
As for disposing of phone batteries. Rather than sticking in a a (flammable) plastic bag. Just chuck it in a baked bean tin and pack it with dirt , before disposing of it. As for bin lorry fires. Pretty good chance it's going to be due to disposable capes.
"Senior managers don't get any kind of bonus pay regardless of their performance."
10 second search.
From University of Nottingham's website
"As part of the Reward Strategy, managers are able to reward exceptional individual or team performance via a one off payment through a Special Contribution Recognition Bonus, or an Exceptional Performance Bonus. "
Still think there is nothing for Senior managers / Directors?
....shows how bad the prison system is in many cases.
Next week's headline.... Spending money preventing people going to prison in the first place is good idea.
But that doesn't get votes from the "hang em all" brigade. Instead you get a bunch of rich old men going *We must be tough on crime"
I'll put it in context.
Our "Small" data centre had 5000+ servers when I left.
It had 2 battery UPS rooms, each about the size of 3 bed house in the UK. These were then backed up by two generators. Think the size of a European spec articulated lorry.
So it's perfection feasible to pull of say 50% of the stored power without to much risk.
Why so big? When there was a major outage, we were running on the UPS for almost 36 hours. If either part failed, you had redundancy.
"The default mode for faults is that the lights stay on to ensure that roads are not left completely unlit and become a safety concern"
You city folk and you quant little ways.
Somehow many villages seem to cope quite well. Sure we may have them on a junction, maybe a few extra in the centre....but even then they often go off at 1am.
Maybe if you spent a bit more time shagging your relatives*, rather than stabby stabby, shooty shooty, you wouldn't need them.
*In before the obvious reply.
I don't know. Spotify still keep trying to flog me the family plan, despite my family no living in the same house hold.
And the new fucking update is pissing me off. "Resuming play of....." which half the time screws up the interface if you don't have a decent signal and fucks up the audio of the current playing track.
Luckily you can pick up 2nd hand Cds, dvds and Blu-ray's for next to nothing.
I may be wrong as I've never used this kit, but it sounds like a "click to install" option, which my guess is it then pushes it out to all devices (I've used similar systems)
If you don't have this, you just have to manually apply the fixes to all your devices manually.
"All 3.5" drives are standard. They dont have different RPM, if they do thats because they have a fault."
You sure on the "Standard".
Many, many times I used to find s disk would work absolutely fine in one drive and be utterly unusable in another. Sony's were a particular pita.
