From bitter experience I know sections of Leeds also had this.

Every six months I'd have to travel up to the branch to beat BT over the head with a large stick when yet again another tail eventually failed.

After 6 years they ran out of unused cables to try to "fix" the issue and finally ripped the whole lot out.

There was a brilliant podcast episode on this (probably Cautionary Tails) that showed both private and public secretary equally bad at large projects. It boiled down overconfidence in their own abilities, both supplier and purchase to get it right first time. It can't possibly go that badly....

I summarize this as ....

For starters ping is a crap. At most use it for checking connectivity. Any sort of traffic filtering or shaping is going to drop PING (or at least reduce it) if it gets busy, or QoS is in play.

He was basing all the research on failed pings and speed test. Speedtest again is another variable.

Then you have local conditions, weather, radio interference and so on.

Please at least use wireshark and Actually SEE what is happening, rather than just presuming.

Because currently both Ukrainian and Russian forces are using shotguns to shoot small drones down.

Part of the issue, that the US pork barrel hasn't realised yet, there is little point using a $10 million system to hopefully knock out a $500 drone, especially when there are hundreds of them.
