I used to earn a really good salary, lived in a lovely house, in a lovely village and I fucking hated it.
Everyone try to have the flashiest big 4x4, out do each other with marvellous holidays, have the biggest house and bore the utter crap out of you with their latest "thing", be it purchase or work related.
Now I'm permanently broke, I've just had to bodge the wiring on my 105,000 little i10 so I can get to work tomorrow, I live in a 1 bed (admittedly lovely) rented apartment, with 90% of my possessions being old or second hand. But
I'm surrounded by amazing art, I go out to live events as much as possible, I've become friends with really interesting people such as artists, graffiti writers, designers and musicians
I've probably never been more content in my life.

Working in prototype, I can tell you one major car manufacturer is currently on their 12th redesign of a motor housing in two years.
It's not uncommon for a car maker to get through at least 6 or 7 designs.
Then there are the battery housings...
Oh and yes, the motor doesn't need ten years of design, but the batteries are still in their relative infancy.
Meanwhile another manufacturer is phasing out their 20 year old block oh and excuse me while I go and get some 1960 designed blocks that are going in state of the art military vehicles out the door.

For a very large percentage of people, the standard of living plummeted, poverty increased, life expectancy dropped and disease increased.

Luddites, contrary to popular belief we're NOT anti-industrialsation, far from it. All they originally wanted was time to adapt,, government support for those that lost their jobs and a fair wage. Think them more as the first trade union, rather than anti-technology. It's only when the government and company owners ignored them, did they start taking revenge.

No option to cancel.
