The major corporate tech industry...
...really has nothing interesting left to show us anymore.

The sentence was complete and utter bullshit and the judges were loaded against him.
Part of his sentence was due to him wanting to hire hitmen. The problem is, he was never arrested, tried, nor convicted for that crime. Yet the judge still used that in his summing up. Each judicial body pretty much went "nah can't be bothered".
So it was a complete fit up when it came to sentencing.
But should he be pardoned? Nope
The problem is, the rich get richer and the poor are told to blame the poorest, for all their problems.
I fucking hate these companies and their scumbag CEOs.
Yet people will still keep buying their shit, because it's easier. I admit I'm one of them, but slowly weeing my way off.
Amazon and Netflix have gone, eBay is barely used, but boy is it hard.
This year will be MS and Google (haven't bought anything off them for years). But unfortunately Apple will still need to exist.
...just don't give a shit about AI other than, "Will I lose my job?"
Other than the meta verse, I've never seen such collective indifference from not just ordinary people, but also the tech community.
The only people that give a shit, are those getting even more obscenely wealthy, the journalists that lap up, without question the bullshit those assholes spew out, and the public that just believe the slop that these spineless journalists pimp out, without question.
"as for investing, 3 fold return in 4 years is a pretty big upside, enough that the investors are almost guaranteed to break even and given they measure success by beating the index by a few bps"
Other than Nvidia, where did you get that figure from?
Are you suggesting that there is going to be OVER $600 billion ROI from these investments, given that Anthropic and OpenAI are making obscene losses, only kept going by venture capital funding.
They have no plans on how to make money, other than "you can do stuff"?
...as all the commentards on here repeatedly bang out in support of AI, when it comes to replacing warehouse, call centre, admin, and other "meanial" jobs, all those can just simply retrain in IT
Oh wait.
Yeah, best become a hairdresser.
(Don't become a barista, as my home coffee machine does a better job than 90% of them)
"Not sure, would have thought VoIP would be too lossy with chopping the frequency off at the top and bottom."
That only happens if you're using shit CODECS.
If you stick to G711a/u you'll be fine. Rolled out hundreds of the buggers. But then you just introduce another issue...what happens to a compromised ATA?
Your firewall is far, far more likely to get patched than an an ATA, even by the better brands.
..come the revolution, these should the first up against the wall, but that would be classed terrorism, due to their moneym
I'll just have to stick to shooting poor unarmed black people in the back, as that's "ok" in modern USA.... actually, has been pretty much ok from day 0.
Much of it isn't done via browsers, but in app adverts.
I pointed this on here a while back.
I use Podcast Addict, an open source player, to download and play podcasts, oddly enough
The only permissions it has are storage and internet connectivity. Location data is explicitly denied.
So how do the adverts know where I'm based in order to play adverts for my local NHS?
Simple, IP based adverts. The app doesn't need location data, but the advertising scum just base it on your IP address when pushing out the advert.
