Can I just say...

...as a Cloudflare user, this is the website owners choice.

In Cloudflare, you as the owner of the site, get to choose your level of threat protection, even on the basic mode.

For example, if you try to get to my backend, outside of the UK, you're going to get blocked.

Same for accessing the front end from many countries (I only sell to the UK, so really don't care if China can't scrape the content).

However for legitimate traffic, there is multiple options on bot / malicious traffic detection, from js detection, captcha, blocking known bots etc etc.

My guess is a lot of these sites are enforcing strict blocking, after all, how many here can't get to the reg?

A customer with BT broadband will pay £30 per month, as BT discounts its underlying phone line part because your using BT broadband

BT charge the competition (the azure bit) £80 per month just to use BT"s phone lines to provide their broadband service to the end customer.

I've been using 2nd hand phones for well over a decade, as have my kids and parents. Throw in a couple of iPads and all my PC's for close on 15 years.

Never had any issues.

As a side note, looking after the (large) phone system at my last company, I'd set up fraud detection monitoring to look for things such as premium rate abuse (this is the days when you couldn't do a blanket ban), extended international calls and potential phreaking

After working in IT for 20 years, it's certainly not a career I'd recommend, not to anyone.
