Google Antigravity vibe-codes user's entire drive out of existence

IGotOut Silver badge
Stop

Before everyone blames the user.

This is 100% the fault of Google, advertising agencies and the clueless ass kissing press.

For close on 2 years all we've heard day in, day out is AI is amazing, AI will change the world, AI is empowering everyone, look what AI can do.

So if a non technical user is told by the one of the worlds largest tech companies, useless fucking "journalists" and endless commercials that vibe coding is everything you need to get the job done, don't blame the user when it goes wrong, blame the lying sacks of shit constantly pushing the narrative.

It's their fault.

UK gov blames budget leak on misconfigured WordPress plugin, server

IGotOut Silver badge

Really?

"for many years, noted that WordPress can be onerous to configure"

No it's not.

It's pretty fucking simple. The issue is adding 500 plugins you probably don't need, with half of them not seen a update in 3 years and then not bothering to check what they actually do.

So you know what we should do?

Re: Pricing per gram please

"They describe height in feet, weight in stone and pounds (and hence ounces), volume in pints (and also ounces, but different ones), and distances in miles. "

Nah, it's a generational thing.

I was bor and decimalisation came in so I'm

5"10, weigh 67kg, measure short distances in mm, cm and m, but drive miles to work, but I did used to run a 5k most mornings. Couldn't tell you the MPG of my car but I know the price of petrol by me is £134.9 a litre.

I drink pints in a pub, but do like the odd 500ml can of beer from time to time.

Then you could buy a litre, a 2 pint or 2 litre bottle of milk at the same time as buying your 500g of cheese to put on your 1/4lb burger.

Ask my kids and they'll tell you their height and weight i metric, They measure all distances and weights in metric and will do the mental gymnastics to convert long distances to Km

IGotOut Silver badge

Ahh "the good old days"

First up in impressed they were so advanced using TCP/IP rather than IPX/SPX .

But boy do I remember those days. My first IT job was desktop support and what an utter mishmash of systems that was.

It was the "switch over" days, so the estate consisted of Novell servers running IPX/SPX, NT servers using TCP/IP and IPX, desktops running Win 3.11 and 95, Wyse terminals, 10base2, 10baseT and 100baseT, Token ring 16/4, Baystack switches, ShivaRas servers and not to mention Compaq desktops that would happily slice a finger off if you dared try to remove a network card.

Those couple of years probably taught me more about trouble shooting than the other 20 odd years, not just in IT, but life in general.

You may want to research a bit more on Råtner.

It was a complete witch hunt by the media and the established elite jewelry trade.

They all looked down on him as he was a genuine self made millionaire who completely obliterated every other high street jewellers out there. People knew their products were cheap tat, but they gave the illusion of being expensive, which is what most people were happy with.

No silly, the C90 IS the armoured version, they just needed to give it a camo paint job and add a few 0's to the price tag.

IGotOut Silver badge

You know what they really need...

... modularity!

Have one hull with loads of swappable containerised components that they can quickly swap out. Use untested advanced propulsion units and untested hull designs.

Then lay down billions of dollars for a shit load of these before even the first sea trials.

Maybe call them the Littoral Combat Ships.

Sure they'll be a roaring success.

400 days? Bloody amateur computer users. Us (ex) telecoms guys laugh in your face.

Try a Nortel Meridian Option 81 with over 5 1/2 years, and that includes removal of melted cards after a lightning strike on the lines. Or an option 61 that was shut down after four years, only because we moved offices. Heck even the baby 11s only got a reboot when the power died for so long that the UPS's ran out.

As for Baystack routers and switches, you NEVER rebooted them unless you fancied a complete rebuild and restore.

@codejunky

I knew you were a rightwing nut job, but if your idea of ending the war is "Give Russia huge chunks of Ukraine, disarm the country and leave them wide open to further attack whilst Ukraine gets nothing in return" then your spot on.

Of course Russia can be trusted. After all they kept their agreement not to invade Ukraine if they handed of their nuclear weapons after the time of the Soviet collapse.

"VPN usage with children was estimated to be about 8% last time I looked"

Where's that survey?

I only ask if it includes the ages 0 - 18 it's going to have very, very different results to 13 -18.

Also how do they actually know? Ask 10 children if they use a VPN and extrapolate from that?

My teenage kids freely admit they use VPNs to bypass school internet restrictions, along with geoblockiing.

Never trust kids to give the truth to surveys. As I've spoken to both my kids, if you believe the school ground talk, every teenage boy has had sex with at least 10 girls, yet every girl is a virgin.
