Silly investor. Doesn't he know the purpose of US corporations is to enhance the wealth of the CEO and his buddies on the exec team. HPE has been creating enormous wealth for CEO's since the days of Carly Fiorina.

Juniper sued over HPE buyout after allegedly ginning up execs' wallets
DXC Technology says takeover talks terminated
White Castle collecting burger slingers' fingerprints looks like a $17B mistake
A billion dollar fine would likely put them out of bussiness. The burger flippers and fry cooks would all lose their jobs. Better to throw the CEO and and the IT manager who approved the idea in jail for 5 or 10 years. That would send a clear message that collecting personal data with out consent is wrong.
IT management giant DXC confirms takeover interest
Looks like CEO Salvino and the exec team are heading for a big payday. They will be awarded huge bonuses for setting up the sale and hanging around to manage the transition to the new company. After all someone has to do the heavy lifting! As for the regular employees, unfortunately there won't be any free cash available for raises or bonuses this year. Sorry about that, maybe next year, or the year after that. But at least you will get lots a thank you emails for your hard work and keeping your customers happy during the transition. Nothing feels better than getting a heart warming thank you from the CEO as he's heading out the door with his millions.
DXC Technology linked with private equity takeover talks
Last years after 5 year with no salary increase, I asked for a 10% raise. I gave my manager lots of time to get the wheels turning and get the request up the totem pole. Unsurprisingly my request was denied. But my manager did manage to get me a $2200 bonus which I gratefully accepted. After the bonus was safely deposited in the bank, I handed in my resignation with the obligatory 2 weeks notice. In the months that followed 4 other employees in my group also left the company, as did my manager. DXC is a complete disaster. We were all employed in Canada, and we ran and managed all the multiple HP Nonstop systems used by 2 major Canadian banks. Its hard for me to imagine how these systems continue to operate when a third of the staff quit.
IBM confirms new mainframe to arrive 'late in first half of 2022'
Re: Mainframe terminiology
The issue is replacement parts. No vendor wants to keep, build or repair (if possible) old parts. And by old I mean perhaps 5 years. Think of hard disk drives. The capacity increases so quickly that a 5 year old disk is obsolete, unremarkable and no one will build 5 year old tech.
Re: odd wording
It is irrelevant to compare MIPS between different platforms. MIPS are the low level instruction a CPU and operating system execute. Different CPU types, IBM, Intel, do not have the same instruction set. For example a simple add instruction could be simpler and more efficient on one type of CPU than another. MIPS are only relevant when compared on the same platform. In this case Z series. Also when the operation system changes, the MIPS rating can also change. Some operating system changes can either improve or waste CPU cycles. A lot of this really depends on how the vendor actually does the testing and rating. Some smoke are mirrors depending on how honest they want to be. I worked at Tandem computers and the horrid companies that bought them years ago, Compaq and HP. Occasionally did performance and tuning for customers. Even benchmarks.
You're not getting Huawei that easily: Canadian judge rules CFO's extradition proceedings to US can continue
All the while as this farce rolls along, China is still pressuring and threatening Canada to purchase Huawei 5G gear. Even if Canada were to release Meng and send her back to China, Kovrig and Spavor may not be release unless Canada were committed to purchase Huawei 5G gear build with spyware build into its low level firmware operating system. We in the west are complete fools if we purchase anything from Huawei.
Lawsuit klaxon: HP, HPE accused of coordinated plan to oust older staff in favor of cheaper, compliant youngsters
Re: Rinse and Repeat
I worked at HP/HPE and now DXC. I find the thought of sharing the knowledge I have learned over the last 35 years with the replacement workers for those forced out appalling. Lets not forget that as these companies circle the drain, the CEO's and executives have and continue to make out like bandits. Older workers hard earned knowledge is theirs, to keep. Sharing it only enables companies like the above to continue the abuse.
DXC's new boss has quite the cleanup ahead after frankenfirm exits Q2 nursing $2bn loss
Mark Hurd is dead
Hurd was the perfect example of how CEO's and the BOD's have hijacked corporations today resulting in capitalism's failure. In reality he created no value at HP during his reign of terror. Among others he bought EDS and Palm. Both were disasters. The intent was to boost revenue while slashing away at the workforce, R & D and anything of value which could be eliminated to cut expenses. No new value was ever created. Customers fled as the workforce supporting them was outsourced offshore or was simply eliminated. The short term boost in revenue along with increased profit from cost cutting earned Hurd millions in bonuses. He he walked with at least a $100 million during his short tenure. He was the master of manipulation of how to use a corporation to increase his own wealth. A true Wall Street darling. A prime example of how the 1% have been stealing all the wealth in the last 30 years while the rest of the workforce saw little if any increase in pay to this day. A truly sad story.
Judge slaps down Meg Whitman for accusing Autonomy boss of being a 'fraudster who committed fraud'
Controversial American bigwig in London... no, not Trump: HPE ex-CEO Meg Whitman to give Autonomy trial evidence
'Happy to throw Leo under the bus', Meg Whitman told HP after Autonomy buyout
Meg Whitman and Mark Hurd combined fired hundreds of thousands of HP employees. So much pain for so many folks. Now HP is but a shell of what it once was, as it continues to circle the drain. Yet Whitman is a billionaire, and Hurd has a net worth in the hundreds of millions. There is just something so wrong with this picture. CEO's like Hurd and Whitman manipulate the corporations they run in order to maximize their own earnings. They couldn't care less about the workers they use and destroy as they enrich themselves.

Here's what Lynch, Hussain and HPE are saying about Autonomy pre-buyout due diligence
The CEO always wins
Don't shed any tears for poor Leo Apotheker . Like his predecessor, former CEO Mark Turd, he was handsomely rewarded with a fabulous severance package when he was fired. HP had been one disaster after another since the days when Carly Fiorina became CEO. Each subsequent CEO had also failed the shareholders and employees while walking away with millions after being fired. This is the sad state of affairs in US corporations these days. There is no downside for a CEO to fail.
