How about this though:
Writing and shipping crap buggy software is cheap. Writing and shipping very high quality software is very expensive.
Maintaining high quality software is expensive. Maintaining crap buggy software is really, really expensive.
I honestly believe writing crap code is a bad investment. I'm not just saying it makes me sad and doesn't fulfil me as a developer - it actually costs the company money.
