Splunk does a bunk from Russia: No software and services for you, Putin!

JP_Veeam

Software is a diminishing business in Russia for government business

The government passed a law that any software bought from outside of Russia vendors must be justified annually as to why no in Russia company can provide such software to the government.

As such, there are lots of small companies that essentially sell similar products to things like Splunk, Oracle, etc. to take advantage of the government business.

Uncle Sam to its friends around the world: You can buy technology the easy way, or the Huawei

JP_Veeam

Don't sell the UK short, yours is the 5th largest economy

I agree it is all hand-waving, but if the Huawei boxes stop getting sold around the world due to this hand-waving then EMEA or US firms will get that business. And that will mean billions to one of them. As for Canada, they have a large land mass, but depend on the US for protection and roughly 80% of their people live within 100 miles f the US border.

All these policy changes are the generous Uncle Sam finally waking up to find out lots of other countries are taking our money and giving nothing back.

I hope a some point we pull our troops out of Germany, as it has not been on the Russian front for over 60 years.

I totally agree

If Zuck has a Mini Me now that he has a child, I hope he is not the villain in a future Austin Powers movie...

Politicians are helping us ?

Ed Markey, following in the footsteps of Ted Kennedy, promising to introduce a bill to stop this. Amazing he finally woke up...

Meanwhile, the news has caught the attention of a US lawmaker. Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) is furious that Facebook "has been offering teens financial compensation for access to vast amount of those minors’ personal information, including personal messages, web history, and photos."

The UK and Ms May ought to give the EU the single finger salute to their proposal and start making trade agreements today with the other 160+ countries in the world today !!!!

Imagine if by the end of March they had new agreements with the US, China, Russia and Australia.

The EU people would flip out.

They cannot be kicked out for negotiating early, they are already leaving.

Re: Umm... nope.

Amazing how much money and effort goes into these doomsday scenarios. The only reliable offset to human induced global warming is less humans, as even our food and breathing cause rises in carbon dioxide and other waste according to most of these studies. So the solutions of killing off a lot of the 7 Billion people expected on this planet soon is bound to come up in the minds of politicians and scientists who feel they would be spared the purge.

Re: Take the money, but the valuation could bite you

Well said. It used to be companies were compared by their ability to deliver revenue, not how much money they could raise. Raising money just means the existing investors are diluted or the financials do not support an IPO yet.
