Does the range drop if...
I play Pendulum really loud all the way? :)
very nice car, even with the grille criticisms its still an awesome looking motor
oh and how SMUG would you be tearing away from chavs in this thing? :)

I have always thought he was over hyped, I remember his blatant lies on the governments' national savings adverts the whole "I dont take risks" comment contradicts everything he has done
Many of his companies were high risk technology companies in an extremely competitive market.
Any self respecting business man would never behave like he does.
Not the right man to assist the government in enterprise!
No doubt Tahir Mohsan and Tariq Mohammed formerly of the lovely TIME COLOSSUS MR.PC etc will get a nice government position :)
Well this is interesting, I am sure I would be prosecuted if I didn't hold details of my business' financial transactions for at least 7 years.....This is a legal requirement
so how does a bank get away with destroying records within 7 years?
the FSA should at least look into their practices irrespective of this case!
Hi Guys
well I shuddered when Tiscali took over Pipex, whom I had been with since I first got broadband
Tiscali bought Worldonline, who had previously messed up Screaming.net which I had as a service, and upped the charges. So I left them then.
However the Homecall part of Pipex offered me free internet in exchange for a £12/month phone service
so thats phone and internet for just £12
not only that but I get 7.6mbps and I am about 1.5 miles from the exchange.
the service has been surprisingly good from Tiscali
however having many friends and family on Talk Talk I KNOW those days are numbered.
maybe time to move to O2
I know people have mentioned about how bad the grammar is.
but you have got to admit its gets worse, and funnier, the more angry they get.
more of these please, they make the working day go faster :)
Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention, he probably could get flights for 0.00 but once he got to the airport and paid £40 for luggage and another pile of money in taxes, its hardly a freebie is it? :)
the internet (and games) is/are a place to relax and unwind in the ever more irritating world of red-tape, stupid laws and other various annoyances, that drive us to insanity.
Yes you could put some slow jazz on headphones and relax and unwind
or you could go on Team Fortress 2 while playing The Prodigy and blow things up
end result, aaaaaahhhhh :)
oh and anyone who disagrees with me and many other posters here gets a good kickin!
Sorry but the funky light clusters are little more than money spinners
the standard lighting of the volt would no doubt be more economical to maintain after a bashing of gravel
otherwise I quite like both cars
and am looking forward to the leccy revolution, can I have a couple of extra batteries for the stereo? :)
that they are going to make new record players?
actually new DJkit is quite exciting, but its a very competitive market, and they are not only up against Technics and Vestax anymore
some of the "lesser quality" players have released some serious kit, Numark and Kam etc.
tellies might come back again some other time, when margins get decent again, but when you can pick up a 32" LCD for less than £300 its a tough market!!!
who's to say next episode an Ally of the boss turns up, causing a premature opening of the safe door, and a still - alive boss having to be circumvented at every step.
I am still a believer, and I found in the past that Actual BOFH methods can be used to a certain extent :)
Keep em coming, just made a terrible week better.
well I have found dealing with retailers online has been the best way to go
amazon support lots of smaller ones
ebuyer
microdirect
just go on pricerunner or your favourite comparison site to find where the value lives
Empire direct used to be really competitive, they had a small charged membership that would get you extra discounts, however at 1-2 electrical purchases a year this didnt amount to much
and their normal prices werent that good.
Expect the supermarkets and argos to start selling more branded products as the big brands look for outlets
but the C64 sold over a million
its arguably better than a media centre machine, what with a nice large capacity external drive, this thing could sit well under the telly doublig up as the media remote/web surfter
make it control the dvd player and sky box and its a winner!
classic format, nice styling and not only that, the gaming power is about the same as a c64 too :)
The reason there is a difference in image and sound quality would most likley come from quality of components
while there is no analogue conversion to worry about, there is still laser quality, capacitor quality, transport accuracy, and of course the logic that controls the whole thing.
for an instance in how bad wiring can be done, just take the lid off (very carefully) an old PS2, and see the tinfoilyness in all its immediately tearing glory.! :)
it would be nice to get new overlords,
I have been a pipex customer for oooooh ages. since 512kbps "broadband" :)
the service has suffered loads since Tiscali took over
however since being coaxed to the homecall version of Pipex by Tiscali (previously I was on xtreme), I have only been paying for the phone service, the BB is free, so I get what I pay for I suppose.
Sky had a shaky start, I helped a lot of friends and rellies get around the awful initial customer service, but these days I rarely have to deal with problems Sky related, they really have improved their service.
NOW I have had to subscribe to the BOFH notification service, but of course have to use my home email
which means I wont be able to read it in the peace and quiet of a boring afternoon, I will have various commands being delivered by wife 1.0 at home.
and as I am a blerk, multitasking I leave to women and windows.
so BOFH in main news when released TA! :)
otherwise its not that bad, and will probably sort out those wierd overlapping problems on old computers running win2k at training centres :)
Do you have any technical evidence to prop up why I should remain with my .G router over a new .N one? there are 2 machines on my home network that would immediately benefit from greater communication with each other.
Yes we all know that Broadband is slower than your network connection, but think of those wireless external hard drives etc. all would benefit from better connection speeds
not to mention streaming media to a big telly (I will have one, one day .....)
To me DraftN is the next step, and considering minimal price differences in kit, is the way to go.
that A: Egon says crossing the streams is bad
and B: Dr Evil is so going to be after that machine to hold the world to ransom, is also a mega cool looking machine that fits right into the evil world conquering genius must have section.
Plus I want cold fusion or some other cool way to save on my leccy bill
I remember the biggest via problems I had were with windows ME
the rest worked fine as long as you installed everything in the right order
that was on 98
Mobo drivers
Graphics Drivers
Sound Drivers
Modem Drivers (plugging this in at the end) :)
ah them were the days
and they were stable and fast and very very cheap
of course stability depended on which cheap brand of motherboard you bought
some cheap ones were very bad, others were great.
pcchips being bad
lex being not too bad
its all just way too easy these days too :)
what? buy a ps3, what for? so I can hog the TV my wife wants to watch the soaps on?
are you mad?
I would like to keep my vital organs where they are thankyou very much.
I have a notebook with decent graphics, and a nice keyboard and mouse for FPS games (yeah go on try the keyboard on the ps3 I dare ya, they might have one but it sucks).
I tried UT3 on a friends ps3, I nearly threw the controller out the window!
PC's will always be great for gaming, and whats up with how windows xp or even vista looks?
they might not be the "best" os's on the planet, but they certainly aint the worst.
plus you cant get STEAM on a ps3....nuff said
and back on topic of the graphics cards.
Having being burned by ATI at least twice, (more times if you count my pc build friends) do the darn drivers work properly?
ATI Xpert@play was perfect until ATI put OPENGL on their drivers
Rage Pro/Fury etc etc (well they were well suited to windows ME!) so drivers still garbage.
Radeons. hmmm lots of praise but I was busy with Nvidia after a nice spell with voodoo by then.
Got a notebook 2 years ago with an x1400 in it, because the Geforce 7600 was delayed and i was impaitient! :)
the drivers from Acer were garbage, used 3rd party omega drivers just to get half decent performance out of it, had to switch between drivers to get various games to work.
Nvidia still wins on the fact that everything works, never mind about the speed, (which is fine on my 8800m Gtx :)
Yes the ... did the lights just flicker.
sense.
Fan speed changes....check
its all true........
sensing small changes in pressure to predict a thunderstorm, (also noticing cloud formations) actually I am pretty sad with that one :)
but at least I disconnect the copper lighting conductor in the back of my router.
another great BOFH blog entry :)
If I remember correctly their original sound cards/chips were a massive success including 5.1 decoding etcetc.
Can't say their sound devices were a failure, just dont understand completely why they stopped, maybe it was standing in the way of monopolising graphics industry I dont know.
but you can't tar Nvidia with such a brush without even glancing at the horrors from other camps.
Intel made the i740, that was the last decent graphics to come out of that camp.
Ati's drivers became unusable when they added opengl capability
I had a 4mb xpert@play at the time! :)
Ati's Rage cards................I am not going to say anymore as I still have nightmares.
Matrox, seemed to refuse to try and keep up, and became specialist, the amount of patches you had to apply to programs and games just to get them to work with matrox cards was amazing.
Some games almost had their own matrox version.
via/sis et al, well they filled what intel fills now market wise.
and finally, at least Nvidia are taking the hit.
Fujitsu just pulled out of the desktop hdd market when their cirrus logic chips had hot dates.
and the electrolyte scandal also cost me and many others much money, when even well respected vendors got caught out with bad capacitors.
any incorrect grammar/spelling is purely down to me being a foriegner :)
but thats jut the thing, because they use linked nodes to shove traffic around the country, you would think they would have more than just one other backup link
a company has two connections one for failover , blah blah
but the service provider should rather have more fo a grid rather than just point to point lines, but I am sure thats just asking too much :)
it wasnt long after the GXnetworks event, that the decline of (pipex) began
pipex was of course gxnetworks having bought pipex keeping the brand.
a lot of companies lost a lot of money over that couple of days.
I know people need to keep costs down, but like I keep telling DR managment meetings, the biggest cost is when something fails.
it was unlucky though ........ almost too unlucky (the 2x outages I mean)
when GXNetworks (pipex) point of presence in leeds had scaffolding built up next to it blocking their wireless signal (that'll learn em!!!)
causing them to pay out on SLA's! :)
a single point of failure is a bad idea guys, in this instance you didnt have enough network resilience.......but of course higher management always scoff at the idea of spending money before a disaster happens!
That they decided to use a Gaming Boutique to market an ultra thin laptop
I saw this earlier and thought it looked nice, but its not what VOODOOPC is really about
it should have a geforce 8800m gtx sticking out the back :)
however I welcome the competition, as while I think apple make nice looking products, using them is not as much fun for me.
I miss the old Pipex......
although my current deal with the homecall leg of Pipex is nothing short of amazing, free broadband, while just paying the phone line.
takes me back to screaming.net days :)
I think I would like to vote for the sky takeover then when my package is up for renewal, I can talk tv/phone/higher speed BB with them :)
all I can say is the "new one" they got from the shelves has probably already been returned twice!!!
even trading standards have had them for that one!
I remember dixons trying to fob me off with NO LESS than 3 spectrum +3's that didnt work
ALL of them had been used, in the end I demanded a new one, to which dixons said we have none in stock, so I told them that currys round the corner had some in, and they could just intercompany charge it,
I was 16 at the time, and that scared the daylights out of them.
I did get one in the end, which worked right up until It got nicked.
paris, because she would probably buy from PC WORLD if it was pink with swarovsky crystals on it.
Make it so the laptop could play ps3 games, mobile PS3 with a dual boot from either a game disk, or hdd to windoze/linux (switch flick or button press, whatever the luddite needs)
that would be THE seller, its not like consoles havent been integrated into pc's before. wasnt it Amstrad who had a megadrive port in some desktops?
I had an m15x on order with them for a Month
then they told me it would be at least another Month before they shipped it
in the end some people waited nearly 2.5 months for a notebook! boooo!
so I got a Novatech (thats why i am biased) it took them 2 days to deliver btw! :)
any other company would have had insurances against fraud.
was the owner too busy racing his Gumball car?
I reckon novatech would be a good buyer for the company, especially since they already manufacture some of the same notebooks, (and at a better price I might add!)
unless I win the Euro Lottery tonight, in which case the company would be mine, and we would have something to compete with xotic in the states! :)
The machine aint the best technological feat on the planet, excluding of course the amzing wiimote.
Have been disappointed that games companies couldnt get their fingers out of their .*expletives*. and release decent titles.
BOTH bowling titles from Brunswick and AMF are abysmal.
Me and the wife regularly challenge ourselves on wii sports, its just great multiplayer.
GH3 has been a huge success, and after having the console for almost 18 months, its still in regular use.
so I only sold Brunswick pro bowling, but no-one would argue with me for that!!!
so the gaming companies can stop whining and produce decent games, before they get slapped by homebrew on wiiware!!! :)
did Tiscali ever have good business sense anyway?
Tiscali has to be one of the worst isp's in existence, growth only consisting of takeover followed by packages that dont live up to the hype that surrounds them
I am in a right pickle, left tiscali after they bought worldonline, who had bought screaming.net (remember those?)
of course becuase a free dialup service suddenly cost more than broadband.
now having been with pipex for many years, they get pipex and start to kill the service.
aaarrrggghhh
They called me yesterday and offered me FREE broadband
basically I am on the old Pipex xtreme service 4 or 5 years
their homecall division has asked me to switch (since I have my phone contract with them) a few times. I had resisted not wanting to upset my wonderful pipex connection which has to date been amazingly stable and reliable.
The Tiscali buyout was not welcome news as I had been a Screaming.net customer (the one that went to worldonline then to tiscali) that through them went from a free dialup service to £15/month!!!
so I have requested my MAC to xfer to the "other" pipex. and now have my doubts, as me and my youngest son play HL2 games online
I think I will have a chat with them when they call me this evening.
