Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to save data from a computer that should have died aeons ago

Re: Got one on the go..

Talk about unintended consequences: GDPR is an identity thief's dream ticket to Europeans' data

How to ID?

when sending a copy of an ID is forbidden by the state?

Here only a few strictly defined groups are even allowed to ask for a copy of an ID:

- Government itself

- Approved Banks (having an active license in The Netherlands)

- Your employer when your contract falls under Dutch law

Outside if that verification of identity may only be done IN PERSON and the document may not leave your direct control/view.

Re: "the country takes the issue very seriously"

I know right? So they have to do better now and uncloud that part.

Big Brother

Re: "the country takes the issue very seriously"

The other solution would be to make it mandatory that all services like this ALWAYS and ONLY work "on premises"

all voice processed and stored locally

all decisions done locally

all home automation like tasks completed locally

then maybe fetch a text-only search result from an external service

Please stop regulating the dumb tubes, says Internet Society boss

Black Helicopters

It isn't.

If they could, they'd ban that as well.

That still works on GoG

It's a hard drive ahead: Seagate hits the density problem with HAMR, WD infects MAMR with shingles

yeah, time to get back to the time of the quantum bigfoots; how much would fit on those half unit 5¼" units nowadays?

Re: Dumber and Dumber

Seems it is time to forbid any type of earbuds in both ears when participating in traffic.

Oh and ban them in public transit too when you are at it. I'd love to see humans trying to fail to interact with other humans while there >:-]

Sure, Europe. Here's our Android suite without Search, Chrome apps. Now pay the Google tax

Re: Just another attempt

Whatsapp is NOT cross-platform.

It doesn't work on Desktops.

(requiring a mobe to work in a browser or in an excuse for a desktop program, does not equal 'working' on a Desktop)

Really, ICQ seems to be the only decent IM application/protocol left nowadays as Skype is going to hell. Time to unbury my UIN...
