Samsung's superb One UI overlay works well with their foldables, and Samsung makes good use of the screen estate. Whilst there will always be some apps that don't sit well, the important ones are absolutely fine.

Errr.. Huawei were not the biggest selling brand, they were second to Samsung for market share. But they were very healthy competition for Samsung and Apple, and stood a chance of taking the crown had they not been sanctioned.

Having owned scores of Samsung phones, tablets, smartwatches TV's and other tech over the past decade, I can vouch that they have ALL worked, have been supported and in most cases have lived up to the expectations of the premium price. I am very satisfied as a consumer of their products.

I admire your stance, but sadly The Register comments sections regardless of topic, are inhabited by a lot of bitter opinionated remoaners, who will seize every opportunity to spout their hatred for Brexit, the government and anyone who loves their country. They often result to insults when their opinions are being challenged. There's no getting away from them. I read The Register forum because I love discussing technology, but that's being ruined by people who can't put their ranting political opinions to one side.

Do we really believe that savings made by omitting the charger and cable will be passed down to the consumer? Of course not. Some of the comments here are very puerile and hateful. They have a whiff of lefty Guardian readership for sure.

Even if you are no fan of Boris, at least understand that he is far better than the alternatives at presiding over this pandemic. Can you imagine how Corbyn would've handled this crisis? Can you imagine anyone really taking him and a Labour government seriously? Whilst there are some flaws in the action thus far taken, I really don't envy Boris Johnson's position in making some extremely difficult decisions. But I am more comfortable with him at the helm that just about any other politician.

I wish him a speedy recovery.

Like all retailers, some people will slag them off because they had a less than stellar experience, but I have always gone back to CPW when I am ready to purchase a new phone, typically once a year (yes I am a serial upgrader). Because you can't argue with the huge range of phones and the very competitive pricing, something that the networks simply don't offer in their stores. Sure there have been the odd times when customer service was poor, mainly in the pop-up shops within PC World, but on the whole I have been very happy with the 'pre' and 'after' sales service. They now need to make their PC World outlets larger, so we continue to have more devices on display and have sufficient staff to serve the customers.

My Home Mini died after update.

This happened to me, my Google Mini updated and died. My emails to and fro to Google were frustrating to say the least. They wanted photos and proof of purchase and something else every time they replied. Unfortunately I no longer had the receipt and despite them saying this wouldn't be a problem provided I took a photo of the serial number, they backtracked and won't honour a replacement without it. So reading this news today gives me some hope, but will just have to wait and see.

So you are saying Huawei don't install bloat? You're saying that the woeful EMUI that Chinese manufacturers choose is better than Samsung UI?

It may have been true that Samsung was indeed famous for bloatware and a poor interface (TouchWiz) but those days are long gone. On my Note 9 I had to actively go looking to download the Internet browser (which I prefer to Chrome) as it wasn't installed for example.

I love Huawei hardware but EMUI and all the Chinese software they force you to use always turns me away and I am then heading back to Samsung.

I grant you that Samsung need to reduce the price of their devices but general decline in Smartphone sales is happening to ALL manufacturers and it's simply an over saturated market.

The Register is all about technology news. I get the Facebook angle and all but this article has turned the comments section into a political debate that should be discussed elsewhere like Reddit.

I have sold countless pre-owned Android phones over the years and can assure you they certainly do have considerably more than your ridiculous 'zero resale value' claim, even those more than 2 years old. It's just another myth that people quote without any actual real world experience.

Yes. Because democracy is democracy. The ridiculous example you chose however is a far cry from the 17.5 million people that voted to leave.

This whole "keep voting until we get the result we want" idea is NOT democratic. So rather than keep trying to throttle the process, we should use that energy to make plans for our future without the EU.

Waving placards, signing petitions and venting on social media is not going to change a thing. Brexit is happening and you need to get used to that fact.
