Sky customers moan: Our broadband hubs are bricking it

Do better research

The issue with companies like Sky is, you get what you pay for. I have been a very loyal customer of Zen of a good few years and they are brilliant. When I signed up, they gave me the option of their routers, but advised not to and go get my own, they even offered to help set it up for me, which I didn't need. But went out, got a Draytek 2860, I think the uptime has been a few months, and the only reason it has to go down is for firmware upgrades.

Don't get me wrong, I know a lot of people aren't technically minded, or want to be, but when your ISP will happily walk you through it, it's a bit hard to say you can't do it.

We have a printed sheet in our office that says "It's amazing how quick things can get fixed when people don't mind who gets the credit"

A philosophy all of us in IT try and go by, and funnily enough, things do get fixed quickly, and the whole team gets praised.

Copper

How about they start to kick up a fuss about telling end users that, yes they may have FTTC, but the the line going from the cab to your house is aluminium, so will be up and down more than a kids yoyo.

Re: 1200 baud down, 75 baud up

(but Penrith is all aluminium cable so 2 didnt work too well)

Welcome to Cumbria, where most of our lines are still aluminium! A house I once lived in had a street cab 10 yards outside the front door, but my cab was 5km away, the cables ran straight past the new cab but Openreach wouldn't do anything about it, so I had to live with 1mb fibre (at fibre costs) and that was early this year!

We had worse speeds that people up the sides of the fells!

Re: What's that sound ? Brexiteers expoding.

Hang on, wasn't that the whole sell of Brexit? Making it so we can change who we want and what skill set? If you speak to someone who voted for Brexit and doesn't think this is a good idea, well, they are just bigoted, any sane person, who voted for Brexit or not, would think this a good idea.

MSP's

I'm worried about the dodgy MSP's that will try and resell this as their own product and charge even more, but somehow make it worse.
