Re: Howdy Partner

Worked in JL 4 years ago. Let alone that there were already 2 companies, the old-timers, in middle-to-high managment, productivity close to zero and full privileges, and the newcomers, doing most of the actual heavy-lifting, and to all extend being marginally affected by the benefits scheme,(pension scheme changed at some point and was at best on-line with the market, versus the old scheme that was veeery generous), the so call "partnership" is a buzzword only used when bad news were presented...Missing the people, not the job.

Not call, dude: UK govt says guaranteed surcharge-free EU roaming will end after Brexit transition period. Brits left at the mercy of networks

3 ....

Too bad 3 coverage is atrocious, even in London..... I stayed with them due to roaming (EU national here), but I was unable to use mobile data more frequently than not, due to poor coverage/oversubscription of cells. I just move to Vodafone, and had my fair deal of troubles talking the wife to do the same....let's see what happens.

Well, well, well. Internet-of-Things speaker biz Sonos to continue some software support for legacy kit after all

Re: Drop support, make it open source

Well, the difference is that linux usually is implemented by techies, while I would think a good chunk of Sonos customer base is in the "it just works" area. I consider myself a techie, but I don't think I would be interested in manually update a smart speaker, and by manually I mean download, compile and update code for appliances that were never designed for that in the first place.

It is the same with routers, they (almost) all run linux, but they are regularly being powned by script kiddies...why? because it is not simple nor convenient to keep them updated, and yet, everyone needs one to get online....

Re: Sadly, it was a good phone UI, just crap everywhere else.

I still say that to this day having tried all the alternatives from Symbian to iOS, Windows phone has been the best. Shame it never got to fulfill its potential....was like a disappointing gifted kid in the end.....

Play Huawei... for now: Firm aims Googletastic Honor 9X at young 'uns

Re: Nope.....

Same here. Honor 9, happy with hardware, software acceptable. Only gripe is that regular software updates stopped in July, and no one has been able to provide me with a clear understanding on what is going to happen now. Unfortunately, this makes Honor unsuitable for the future. Shame.

UK networks have 'no plans' to bring roaming fees back after Brexit

Re: If only roaming worked at all

I was about to say the same....pretty much the only reason I stuck with them all this time!
