Alert

@Neal

"The correct figures are that it will take around £200 million out of the rest of the country and move it into the London economy. That is why I was always against the Olympics. At a time when this country is already absurdly London-centric and access..."

Actually Neal, it is London that pays for the rest of the country to sit in their council houses enjoying their dole money or working in their shops and using services subsidised by the City of London or do you see the country as somehow supported by the thriving mills of Yorkshire or wherever your ignorance hails from. This country is not London-centric enough, we have higher crime, more congestion, higher prices, longer hospital waiting lists, worse schools and less affordable housing than the rest of the country. London should be keeping a lot more of the money it makes.

That being said, the Olympics is a ridiculous waste of money, East London could have been regenerated without it and as a government project, it will be run by idiots that have no concern over how the tax I pay is wasted.

Thumb Down

But what you don't seem to care about is....

The camera has no lens cover, unlike the original N95, so the lens gets scratched and covered in pocket crud and becomes effectively useless after a month or so. Reason enough to buy the old version.

There is no memory card slot, so unlike the previous N95 which can be ugraded via card to 16GB, with the new one, you are stuck to what's on board.

The GPS, 0.2 of an inch screen increase and the very marginal performance increase due to RAM upgrade don't add up to what has been removed.

If only he'd known she worked there before they got married....

....he could have saved all that money by only paying on the nights he had sex, might have cost him a bit when they first met, but every year they were married he'd have saved a mint!

Stop

I think you guys are mixing stuff up

The war letters mentioned on Radio 4's Today programme are published in a blog http://wwar1.blogspot.com/ . The blog is nothing to do with this book, subject matter aside.

I remember it all as though it were yesterday..

The sweat was running in cold beads down my back, my finger on tense the trigger as I crouched behind a low brick wall, scarecley breathing in case they heard me, furtive glances left and right, you can never tell for sure which way they'll come from in an urban environment and then I heard them, two I think, their footfalls beating an adrenaline rhythm towards me. The one in front passed straight by me never looking back, I staid still, hold ing my breath, the second one passed. I let them both have it in the back. They were soaked, there wasn't a kid on the street that was safe from me and that water pistol.

Of course it was a different age then, there were no computers when I grew up and I started to play Battle Ships using a pen and paper. I feel it was this that gave me my deep insight into maritime warfare strategy. Years later as I infiltrated Castle Wolfenstein and realised I could kill German shepherds (alsatians) as easily as Germans soldiers I wondered if there was any humanity left in me. If only I'd stopped. But I didn't. My killing spree went on using the company LAN to play Doom with a buddy and frag those b*stards on the 3rd floor, they didn't cut it as marines, I didn't even think about the moral consequences as I let rip into them with my chain gun. There is no hope for me now, I have just installed Stalker and Bioshock. My colleagues here in IT at the investment bank don't realise that I am deadly with a mouse and any day now I might get a call from the SAS asking me to come in and just pick up that sand coloured beret..... "no training required mate, boy have we got a lot to learn from you! So imagine you had a boss fight in Iraq at expert level and the USAF had just bombed the crap out of you because they thought your Land Rover looked like two camels with scud launchers on them and there were no medi-kits and you didn't have the cheat code for.....".

Yeah I know, you play the hand you're dealt in this life and my cards were marked when I got that cowboy outfit and cap gun on my fifth birthday. Natural born gamer that's me.

Voice of Reason or Voice of an ignorant idiot?

"I've never understood why, for example, the government wastes so much money on providing medical care for smokers or fat people."

That's because you are ignorant, or just plain stupid. Smokers pay for far more healthcare than they receive and don't cost as much in pensions. People that injure themselves playing sport have contributed nothing to the system with their hobby, maybe we should stop treating them. I personally resent my tax money paying forn the NHS to care for congenital idiots, please think before you breed.

Hmm.

The trouble with the law is that it doesn't allow for common sense. The girl lied about her age. A fourteen year old can look twenty one. It should just be written off as a non-event. Because she not only requested the encounter but advertised for it, then the obviously bears some responsibility. However the law is there to protect those that could be manipulated if there was a simple 'saw her on e-bay' defence. Without knowing more about it we can't say anything really, except that a post-pubescent girl is called a woman and a man wanting to have sex with a woman is called normal. That being said, teenagers are emotionally more vulnerable than 20 somethings and we should defend them against sexual predators, of course 20 somethings are more vulnerable than 30 somethings and we should protect them too.......
