Fake e-cards signal massive DDoS attack

No Spam without reprisentation

Patrick, I totally agree! Linux and Mac users have been ignored for to long. To many H3X0rs writing stuff for XP and IE only! It’s just not good enough! If they are so L33t then they should make Bonnets open to all to join! They dont even publish the sorce code!

(For anyone who doesn’t understand, please see the Kafuffle over iPlayer before flaming me)

Free Software Foundation plans protests at 'corrupt' BBC

Paul

2 points

1) The BBC did not want to put DRM on there programs (As I understand) but they were forced to but commercial companies.

2) The BBC has produces a test system, that works on the most popular combination of OS and Browser. So? What should they have done? It’s a TEST. Typical FSF fanbois, who need to grow up a bit, and accept that the best way to test somthing is minimise conflicts due to browser/OS combinations, work the bugs out of what they have and then worry about Browse/OS combinations later. Its what you do with any other web software (and exactly the combination I would start with)

Brit spooks: Yanks are frightful cowboys

Racisum

Clearly the people who are Pro this kind of action are Racists.

Why? Because they are happy with it "To protect our freedom" What freedom? The freedom of the white middle classes (Of which I am one)? The only reason the support it is because they know it will not be them that "Disappears". And the argument "Well we are still better that Jahadists" is stupid. All countries and people should aim to make themselves above reproach.

On a side note, I believe MI5 and MI6. If you look at the way people act they act as culture defines their roles. In the UK that is 007/Spooks cool thoughtful approach, getting what you need with thought and outwitting the enemy, in the US it is all gung ho beat um till they talk stuff. That is my feeling, not fact.

British customers miffed at email response times

Paul

Letter

Part of the problem seems to be that people expect companies to treat emails like phone calls and answer strait away, but company’s treat them as letters and put them at the bottom of the pile to be answered in order. I dont know which is better though.

An email that takes a long time is better than a call centre idiot who knows nothing, but a call centre with good staff is even better, but taking over a week to reply to an email is not on.

BT declares ceasefire in broadband speed wars

Paul

What are you doing...

to need so much speed? I never do, not even using a WII and online PC gaming and the internet at the same time. I find My PC runs to slow befor my conection dose. Perhaps it is just that I willing to wait a few seconds for stuff to start streeming, or that I dont spend all my time watching videos at the same time as downloading illigal music. I would say that most people dont want more than 8MB, just Geeks and people downloding lots of c**p. Also I never go near my BT "fair usage" Limmit and I am online alot, but using it for life (shoping, email etc) not for Youtube and porn. What exactly are you doing that eats trhough your allocation?

Secondly, it may just be me, but Ive found BT very stable (Never once droped the conection), but as you say, when there is a problem they give you a refund. Try getting that with other companys...

Zero-day sales not 'fair' - to researchers

Paul

Another example.

If an engineer were to find a problem with a product in there field of expertise that was potently dangerous they would be morally and ethically bound to report it, no money, no glory, just doing the right thing. Why do programmers think that it is ok to blackmail people over this? "Recompense for time spent"? Please... How can you live with yourself? And any programmer that b****s about M$ having so many vulnerabilities is a hypocrite. Given the complexity of modern programs I dont believe that there is any programmer that can honestly turn around and say, "All my work is 100% correct, stable and secure".

Your space, MySpace, everybody's space

Paul

What do they have to hide though?

If it is such a small task they must clearly be hideing somthing. There must be somthing they dont want us to know. When somebody asks for somthing so simple and yet so vital to the public good and upholding the law why not just sort it out and hand it over?

What are the AG trying to do not bothering with a subpoena? Its not like they wouldent get one, unless they shouldent be having the infomation.

Microsoft too busy to name Linux patents

Paul

Linex Fan boys

Or perhaps both sides are fully aware of which infringments there are, but also fully aware that Linex fan boys (like some writing here) will flood both compays with half baked amature legal mumbo jumbo in Linex's diffence. I find it very unlikly that at lease one of these 235 do not exist, otherewise it would be VERY bad press for Microsoft if they were found out. They would be in deep deep trouble with the courts and the patent office too.

Borat's human rights restricted in Kazakhstan, US says

Identity theft.

Jedi denounce UK sabre ban plan

Paul

What we SHOULD ban.

How laws against "Being Bloody Stupid"?

That would stop allot of crime, reactionary policies, like lets ban all sharp objects, and probably most MP’s getting elected in the first place.

Or how about we ban pointy sticks, oh and anything over a foot in length waying over 1kg, to stop these items being used as clubs.
