Old Chromebook

I have an, Acer c710-2847 Chromebooks 2013. it’s one of the first basically a netbook. The good thing about it the ram and storage can be upgraded. It’s now got 256GB SSD and 8GB ram. It is no longer support by Google. But you can install ChromeOS Flex. It’s basically chrome OS. I also installed the same OS on a CR-48 I have two of them and they still work. All link to google and gets updates.

So no need to send them to land fill.

Linux is ok

I use Linux zorin 16 Pro on my main system and plex system.

It good does all I want plus can run Windows apps using wine. Like ms office.

It's solid and reliable.

Plus it can be made to look like other OS apple, Windows etc.

Dvd was a shock

Many times over the years while fixing laptops and desktops, I have come across loads of porn.

Plus other things like swingers sites, photos and videos of the person who owns the machine of a porn nature.

One particular one I asked them to back up their data so I could reinstall windows. Well they didn't know how to which isn't uncommon. So I took the laptop and started backing up pictures documents videos emails etc. I came across a video of this guy and his wife they had placed the video at the bottom of the bed and set it to record as they went and videoed all the action.

I thought well he must want to keep it so a made a dvd of it for him. On dropping the laptop round I gave him the dvd, "he said what's that" , "I said that's your video you left on the computer", he then replied, "what video", so of course I had to explain the look on his face was priceless and he begged me not to tell his wife that I had seen the video.

A woman I know always leaves her videos and pictures she has taken on her computer for me to back up. These are explicit, she does some thing on the internet and sells pictures, underwear etc. When you have seen one sonic screwdriver being used for porn you have seen it all especially the one with the end crystal turning.

I can't see the computer

I had one many years ago early 1990s as tech support for a well known computer maker, a guy rang me he was having problems with his computer so I went through the usual test but he kept saying he couldn't see the computer we seemed to be going round and round he was sat in front of it but couldn't see it. Anyway to cut a long story short after an hour. The computer was fine all working but the guy couldn't see the computer because he was blind. It would appear someone had convinced the guy to buy this computer at great expense they even set it up for him but he couldn't use it as he couldn't see it. I immediately arrange a refund and pickup of the computer also had strong words with the sales people and mangers.

I used two password managers and, I forgot the master password for both of them. So I lost all my passwords.

I ended up with a random password generator and, a note book. You can set the length and type if to use special characters.
