As more and more devices have more and more semiconductors, which in turn contain their own embedded software/firmware, which you DO NOT own, only a license to use, so technically Apple have a point. If the screens are indeed counterfeit they're likely to have counterfeit firmware in the control circuitry.
Look at what John Deere tried with their tractors. Stopping mechanics or farmers tuning/repairing the vehicles because of copyrighted ECU code. The more software controlled semiconductors we get, the bigger this grey area becomes, unless everyone in the semiconductor industry switches to open source firmware, which in the case of vehicles will NEVER happen for safety reasons. And profit, of course!

Exactly. BUT, and this is a big BUT, home/business broadband needs a kick up the arse SERIOUSLY as todays speeds are nowhere near enough when you need to back up terabytes and petabytes of data nightly/weekly.
The "cloud" sounds oh so good until you factor in the total cost in a year, plus the poor speed of internet vs. the cost of hard drives. Hard drives are NOT dead yet.

Welcome to the modern world, where companies think they're carbon neutral but are ADDING to landfill. I was looking to find a GTX 1050 laptop the other day, and ALL OF THEM have SOLDERED discreet cards and CPU as well as being PLASTIC CRAP.. Fuck that. The amount of GPU's I had to vacuum rework in the old nVidia days (Go 7900 here's looking at you!) I ain't risking a hefty repair job again, or forking £600 for an ENTIRE mainboard just cause a VRAM chip is corrupted causing freeze screen on driver load.
Sticking with my Precision M6600, which is thinner than most high end laptops these days (with lower die count!), is METAL CHASSIS and STILL manages removable GPU and CPU! Not the latest, but repairable. Looks like desktop is still the way to go for gaming then!

I agree. It's like CANbus. Ignorant people that don't appreciate or understand it think it's too complex, because "it's computerized and full of sensors". Those computers, along with the diagnostic ability of fault codes for each fault, make things SIMPLER and EASIER. No more spending HOURS diagnosing shitty carburettor based DUMB systems!
OK, things go wrong (rarely the computer itself), but the basics are you have input, process and output. If an input is faulty (sensor, wiring) the process cannot happen, thereby no output, or output affected. They just love blaming computers. I'm assuming coding is the same?

I agree. I'm still using my S6, the thing that I hate about it is it EATS battery, even with a new genuine one fitted. I can't use Lineage as my banking et al apps don't support rooted, and they no longer officially support it either.
Gonna try a different phone, maybe a Mate 8. I kept the S6 out of landfill as long as I could tolerate keep charging the life out of it!
Dell Precision M6600 here, beautiful 17.3" screen, and a pre-chiclet backlit keyboard. Use it for video editing, Photoshop and photoshoot editing, DAW with FL Studio, the odd bit of GTA 4, and general Windozy stuff. 16GB RAM, two hard drive bays, external eSATA, and 1.8" MSATA 250GB boot drive, all for just under £250. Custom added my own slim Blu-ray burner for backing up music compositions and photoshoots.
Not the newest i7 but she boots in 4 seconds from MSATA SSD, so good enough if boot time is anything to go by, still got 5+ years in her yet, maybe 10 :). The day Hell freezes will be the day I use a laptop with Chiclet Scrabble keys crap, which is most of the modern ones!
Micro USB is the WORST USB connector out there. They're too thin, break too easily, and they can short circuit if the end is bent slightly, I remember trying to straighten a bent one and it started to get really hot, needless to say it went in the bin. Even UnBREAKcable cables which are supposed to be much more resistant are awful, the wire going into the connector was the first bit to go.
I hate modern connectors. SATA, HDMI, Micro USB, they're certainly not designed for real world use. Parallel, IDE and SCART were much tougher and seemed to last longer. It's the industry following the Apple trend of making everything smaller that's the culprit. It all comes back to the forbidden fruit!
