Such as? The sentiment is all well and good, but what does that look like? And is there a realistic path to achieving this? What does that path look like?

I had the pleasure of working with them when Coherent (then II—VI) moved part of the VCSEL production there - we bought the fab specifically for that purpose. They were (still are, I presume) organised, professional, hard working, and had great bants. Glad to see they have some more life in them.

WordPress.org denies service to WP Engine, potentially putting sites at risk

remainer_01

Stupid people….

…. Doing stupid things. Both WPEngine as well as Wordpress.org offer eye-wateringly expensive wordpress hosting, compared with, for example, siteground, who offer an overall better service anyway. The Wordpress.org block can be worked around in the most trivial of ways, and in the meantime, wordpress.org signalled very clearly that they are not to be trusted.

WTF?

Wow, the amount of “but think of the children” comments here is truly astonishing. I thought we had learned from the previous 94583259 assaults governments make on encrypted communications that this is a piss-poor argument for throwing out encryption?

If you genuinely believe this is “because of the children”, i’ve a few bridges for sale.

All I want is a snapdragon 845, waterproofing, Wireless charging, long battery life and an audio jack. Easy customisation and rooting are a bonus. What I don't want is a Samsung because planned obsolescence makes me angry, as does the insanity around locking the phone down.

I have been wanting to replace my OnePlus 2 for a while now, there just isn't anything on the market that ticks these boxes. What makes me shake my head and strongly consider a feature phone once again is the constant hoopla around cameras. Even this review barely mentions practical considerations of a phone (radio effectiveness, battery life, overall system performance,) and spends a lot of time talking about the camera.

Shaking up the Nad Men: Microsoft splits up into 'cloud' and 'edge'

I don't want "experiences and devices" - I can go to the local smuthouse for that. I want my Windows to respect my privacy, and not pretend to know better than me, especially when it comes to rebooting. I want my Office to work, and I want all this to be reasonably secure and stable.

I don't need this invasive crap.
