not a bad person, just an incompetent boss? Nice defense, fits in with Google's it was one rogue engineer and we didn't realize we were collecting excess data ALL OVER THE WORLD. She should go down regardless of her BS defense. Utter slime, she should do time in a sewer not a prison.
Win 3X in standard mode is a GUI for DOS. Standard mode is a VCPI client, otherwise it runs as a DPMI server. Non standard mode have 32 disk access, and later vfat 32 bit file access. Windows 95 could use dos mode disk access, but for the most part it used DOS as a spring board and not just a pretty face for DOS. Each version of Windows trapped more of DOS and emulated LPT, COM, etc. through Windows drivers.
Much more than a GUI. Non-DOS drivers, file and memory management, and virtualized/emulated DOS environment.
I grew up between Pickering and Darlington (Ontario, Canada) and I was taught this (safe, etc.) growing up. And I was very pro Nuclear Power. But then I watched a documentary that points out what is driving the power plants (other side of the coin). The mining is nasty nasty nasty. Watch "Uranium" at www.nfb.ca it is an eye opener, the videos are free to watch.
Is it just me, or when you save the enlarged images they appear to be a 72dpi fax? I can't tell what is what, character over character, character next to character, stroked out, etc.
Maybe the FBI needs "help to crack mystery code version 2.0" with "real" large graphics that are several MBs instead of KBs.
This guy should have been walked a long time ago. I got very much into Vista MC, and even went as far as to hack the codes for IR MCE remotes and posted detailed PDF on the net.
Then the first shoe dropped, content was next to none, with what appeared to be none coming. Then no support for newer tuners without getting an OEM Vista with it bundled in. They f-d me on the update, and yes I know there are work arounds, but that ain't the point.
I dumped Media Center, what a shame, it seemed like it would have been fun should they have got content for it in Canada.
Since then I moved onto Mac front row, iTunes, iPad touch 2, iPhone3GS, iPad1, etc. All lost sales for MS's hardware partners.
MS has become absolutely pathetic!
her being a girl. In fact I pointed out how I question the young BOY that took down CNN, etc.
And it should be againt the law to hack someones email account, the same as it is with postal mail. If I take someones postal mail I am a criminal. And if I plan out taking people's postal mail that makes me an orgainized criminal.
Just seems weird to me the father knows and doesn't care what the daughter does.
I am not pro government and industry screwing poeple, but I sure am pro privacy.
fall girl for the father? If caught she is unlikely to do time and he would be guaranteed to do time.
I kinda wonder about the comment the father knows but does nothing about it, as a father should he not be keeping his daughter away from organized criminals?
I also wondered this of the Montreal kid that took down CNN, etc. His father would have done time, but the kid got a slap on the wrist after claiming responsibility.
If she is caught she should have to prove she did it, otherwise they look at the father, family, older friends, etc.
On one hand I think of all the people that have said, Windows sucks my PC crashes/crawls all the time. Then when I went to their home/business to fix PC it turned out to be a crappy little app in the background, or a flakey driver. But people did not see it as such, and blaimed it on Windows. Not to say Windows is perfect, but a lot of the time (maybe even most of the time) it wasn't Windows crashing/crawling. A lot of people either don't know any better or wish not to take responsibility for what they do to their PC. With this in mind can you blame Apple for wanting to control what goes on their OS?
On the other hand, can we trust Apple to not get pissed off at a company and block an App because they don't like who makes it? It seems Jobs can get pissed off quite easily.
And what, everyone else at google was too incompetent to realize they were grabbing excess data? This sounds like a big pile of BS to me!
If they do not fine, etc. google, that should mean everyone on the planet has the right to "accidentally" violate the privacy of multiple people in Canada "until they get caught" at which point they get a warning the "same as google".
If they do not fine, etc. google then they do not have to right to fine anyone down the road!
help but think of the word FLOP. Nothing reached out and said I gotta have one. .Net and Silverlight, YAWN. Touchscreen, YAWN.
Monkey man laughed off the iPhone and then released this? 0% Innovation?
Hey world, give up your current smart phone to get a new MS phone, after all it gives you little to no functionality over your current?
No wonder people (employees) are jumping off the MS ship, it is sinking fast!
And does that not also tie up the middle (routers) thus robbing bandwidth from legitimate Internet users? I would say it is time to start checking router logs, etc. for traces of this and bill/sue for the wasted bandwidth and time used. Not good to let them fight crime with crime, especially when it is so obvious that legitimate/innocent users are affected to some degree.
nice note how nobody has touched iPod. Will be interesting to see if they do the same with Pads/Slates/Tablets/etc. But sure seems they are well on their way to doing so. Going to be hard for anyone, even MS, to beat the App distribution. Vista, Utlimate Extras, lol. MS had so much behind it and now I look at people with their iPhones and think it might very well be over. Apps, Apple really seems to have it down.
Who knows for 100% sure, but I think everyone might be late to the dinner table, except Apple, and I always thought those were for lunch. S#!t I guess it is a new world!
"stored in Chrome is safely stored and kept private until a" street view vehicle passes it by for upload, statistical analysis, padded with ads and stored privately back on your computer.
I am guessing that is google's definition of private.
this guy knows 'anything' better. "Android will replace Windows." f-n LOL.
Google is a crappy company hell bent on collecting statistics even if it means violating people's rights. And they "accidently" collect data! What bank or business in their right mind would allow any google product on their network?
Accidently collect data, F-n LOL.
Google did not invent the mouse, so why should they have a patent related to mice? Or better yet, why should they have a patent related to what I do with a mouse? I know it is about tracking for marketing and not just using a mouse, but still......
One more reason to not use google or any of it's products or services.
The US Patent office is broken, someone needs to patent fixing it.
Windows evolved off the LAN, which is why it was so full of gaping holes at the end of the 90s and the start of the 2000s. At first they stuffed all sorts of WAN in with integrated web, etc and then they secured it? Script kids that couldn't code C bitch slapped their OS over and over. Um, maybe they shouldn't have added so much scripting default? Maybe IE should have started out in a sand box and not integrated into the OS, well at least not if it was to be used for anything important. How about no HTML in email programs till they were ready? Windows is much better now, but far from perfect. And I do realize MS does not stand alone.
I wonder how much they charged the government, power companies, etc for systems that run on common-consumer software? And programs made with common-consumer libraries, compilers, API, etc. They should use something a little more cryptic and not something that school kids learn on. A system that requires tons of work to lock it down instead of tons of work to make it easy to use, the wrong system to use in anything so critical!
"through his marketer head."
Market all they want, won't get them out of the downward spiral they are in.
Hmmm, things that leave a bad taste in my mouth about MS. I will list just a few "basic" ones. No WinFS, bogus vista ultimate extras for end users not techies, and crappy Media Center for Canadians in Win7. A major one, IE8 sucks sh!#.
Windows would shame the iPad, but it is too busy being shamed by Ballmer.
If the iPad bubble doesn't burst, he should be canned. That would make him significantly wrong 2 for 2 (iPhone and now iPad).
Hey Ballmer you cheap f@#k, maybe start by finishing Windows 7, making a proper version of Media Center on Windows 7 for Canada. I won't buy it till you do! And hacking it to work in Canada doesn't count.
