Re: I wonder what it will do to it`s (odd) use as a mixer?
Missed off the last line especially when it is one of my posts!

Some 20 years ago a formal company Christmas party turned into a back to someone`s and we almost completely shook off the boring bastards,
( they will emerge with more alcohol intake and become unsociable so it is like keeping weeds at bay, but our fun lawn stayed pretty tidy)
Before the shutting times of shops became critical.we had run out of wine and had a spirits and mixers crisis on the second bit. ( I`m fime a little water with whiskies and rums and that is all) .
From this came Jack Daniels with Irrn Bru, which should not work. in small amounts they complement. I tried to demo this with a sugar free one years later and it tasted like TCP and my little cred was under scrutiny.
The sstandard southern scot drink down south was Barr`s Tizer, But I had IRN BRU in both Stepney and Romford as a kid, it was marketing by coke overwhelmed until about 198x and the fightback. We had Idris and R White`s ( good on you Elvis Costello) lemonade too but Idris Cream Soda was the no 1 drink as a kid sweet and complicated.
Tennants lager had pictures of unattanable wholesomely pretty girls to tease budding engineer geeks, like the Big D nuts card with Beverley Pilkington who I years later discovered lived up the road from me when was 18 and she was a year older ( and remainst hus).
HATRED:... NO!.... takes too much effort and destroys people so that is all they do, look at the multiple crap fuelled by this today all over. Amongst many life experiences I had the joy of visting Ruanda after the "troubles". and that informs me how quickly us and them rather than family squabbles get to inhuman act level.
The Scots and the Frrench are family to the English, have been for a few hundred of years and we get on each others nerves,
There are historical squabbles that are just there for the squabble. That isn`t hatred, more your irritating cousin winding you up about grandad`s book collection in the will.
The Scot`s and the French ganged up against in various plots. So? Family history.
The French domination of the EU civil service structure in no particular order screwed up our fire extinguisher coding, the low emissions engines suddenly had to have a cat by law rather than just fit the specs, and Volkswagen... and all that unscientific stuff was behind the brexist swell. From every engineer and infrormed others that I know..
Be kind, be tolerant but reject iffy and wrong stuff as soon as you spot it and challenge it always
By this logic and as a Banksian eastender whose uncle served on Ark Royal and Victorious during WWII and up to 1970
HMS "Don`t fuck with me or else"
That is a proper Shipname in that universe. and uncle Chas would approve if still here.
"Don`t start , it will hurt you more than me" also works if PC is more important than keeping things real.
It goes way back, and the tech is ensconced in the wording. 75 or there-abouts : people brag about fast data connections, but the highest data transfer rate attainable today remains a boy on a bicycle with a diskpack.
( when they were megs not gigs). Introduction to compsci from open university IIRC.
It is a terrifying thought, a pilot on a mission may have to purchase in-game "charms" to activate his armaments or the key to another Fadec performance profile. I think it was fred pohl came up with this as a means of abolishing war by accountancy ( please correct me it was one of the old astounding and amazing stories types and I`m struggling to attribute correctly, although it could be Harlan Ellison, this will torture me now) , the planes were rented from megacorporations and told you how much it would cost for each munition and how much you had in the governments purse so attacks were usually called off.
At least commonsense set in and we finally rejected it when its cost overshadowed the then cancelled TSR-2 project. It was supposed to be a cheaper option, but costs escalated. You cannot help wondering if the P1154 supersonic harrier project cancelled at around the same time could be resumed for a similar budget to the F35`s as it now snowballs, we would have control of maintenance and surely it would also generate export sales.
(BTW, anorak on, the original TSR2 was the Fairey Swordfish although the T was torpedo not tactical hence logo choice)
Years ago i worked for a major video organisation at one of their mpeg concentration and fibre distribution centres, originally designed as a remote site and manned after some high budget companies had come onboard with nasty potential service outage "fines". Most of the telemetry was still fed back to their HQ and it was they that raised alarms that we had to stay on the phone to check cleared.
At the start of a night you would still do a tour and check Ups status, fault change overs temperatures from the front panels even if nothing flagged in the log, or usually verbal handover from responsible colleagues and call in anyway to see what they saw.
There was a room where all the encoders and kit for the fibres was, with just a double door to the main area, I walked in and it was toasting, I cracked the doors, went for the thermometer probe and The BIG fan and as others have said got the hot air out, hung between bays by the door using patch cables, ( not elegant) and connected to the unreg mains. I had 35C in some places until it started working.
The cowboy who had already gone when I arrived 2 mins early had thought it felt warm and "turned the aircon up" every one of the units was set at it`s minimum 16 despite a big dymo tape by the control panel saying "Do not set below18C minimum". They had carefully sourced multiple units from the same manufacturer, so no single point of failure, but if the humidity and outside temp got into certain regions they would Ice up and go into a defrost cycle. At 20 or 18 it was random so 1 or 2 out of the units in the arrays would do this, at 16 they all frosted up more or less together, and 15-30 mins no aircon. Nothing died although alarms aplenty, so the favoured idiot didn`t get sacked. I voted with my feet after this.
