Assuming youre using your phone - orbot and orfox are handy. I use orfox to browse with noscript. Video doesnt stream well over tor though so if im going to watch youtube i put my other browser through the vpn option of orbot.
As far as i know... this means theres a file somewhere about a guy in iceland that youtube knows about.
My isp has nothing but a tor node
And unless i am of interest to the government... i dont think anyone can collect info on me outside phone version os etc etc.
If theres a flaw in my plan - please advise.
Well if you accept that every government spins a story to suit their own economic goals, then doesnt it make sense to read as many sides of the story as possible and the truth will sit somewhere in the middle.
Huawaei as the example of the day. Read most western media and they include all sorts of dubious material as fact.
Or iran
Or countless other examples.
I use no root firewall which blocks, or at least says it blocks, the various google background access.
Protonmail for email
Signal for texts
Orfox for internet with startpage. Better results than duckduckgo
I cant root it because i also use banking apps. It was that or send in cheques by post...
So yeah. As little google as possible and you get a log of apps that have tried to connect. I'm not sure how successful it is - but i feel i at least tried!
Thats why you make a fortune selling hoodies and caps to delinquents and make it a must have fashion accessory.
Plus as far as i am aware there isnt a law against decorating your clothing with lights and as i am not partaking in criminal acts they can search/question me all they like.
They are currently building up to a ban on burkhas in the UK, the unsuspecting public believing its to stop terrorism. Of course once it comes into law it will just be titled face coverings in public to avoid persecuting individual religions etc. If switzerland, france, belgium, the netherlands, spain and italy all have bans of some description then its a matter of time before it becomes european policy.
I was under the impression that the current strategy was to compromise the device. Which will be a lot easier with the manufacturers/ service providers assistance. All that bloatware on your phone slightly modified with a backdoor. No mathematical problems. And when the draft legislation becomes live, it will be the law that your service provider supplies that functionality.
What if you use orbot and orfox with noscript and startpage as a browser, use noroot firewall to limit app connections and use protonmail instead of gmail?
I know its not as effective as rooting your phone but surely its got to hinder data collection?
If its not i'm interested in any suggestions to improve my browsing habits.
