And that message is: if you put data in the cloud, you still need to back it up.
So many people forget that, which is why I think this news from AWS is just covering their backs. Organisations wanting to consolidate to one backup system across a hybrid cloud estate will ignore this product, and I don't think it will bother Amazon for one second.

Fiddling with things they don't understand, normally for their own ends but disguised as 'in the name of the greater good', and the ones that suffer are the innocent public.
I imagine the main outcomes will be vendors dropping their apps rather than complying, a steeper rise in cyber crime and officials abusing their power.
None of which is good for the average Joe or Joanne. The world is watching...
As a long time customer, Commvault's products are great. If they sort out the packaging and make it simpler to buy and get a proper working channel they have the chance to be the market leader and not just have the best tech.
Unless they make the packaging simpler it won't fly with partners though, so I hope they fix that.
