There aren't many of us left who even remember dumb terminals.
I used to write assembler code to talk to the dumb things, Then (as things advanced - cough!) I used to write code on more intelligent (but cheaper) terminals that emulated the expensive (but dumb) terminals. This was even before PCs.
Progress is a wonderful thing.
OMG slow, it is a crawler.
Just returning to Windows laptop after 3 years using tablet (says retired Windows developer).
After XP it has been all downhill. Just trying to configure new Windows 10 with Skype. New Skype is awful so reverted to classic interface. W 10 till a pile of crap. HP additions are also very dubious.
The damn thing has already screwed up my login - and keeps forcing me into Outlook and Edge (of course I use Chrome and GMail). Time to dual boot methinks. Although at my age I just want quick and simple!
This article is over a year old - only just noticed! I just happen to have a new laptop and was configuring Windows 10 and Skype and this appeared as though it was new news!!!
Not fake just OLD. Still, previous comment is true!
BTW why does it offer to configure Micrsoft mail client when I attempted to sen corrections to my previous comment! Deeply antagonised.
The new Windows 10 Skype was completely unusable IMHO. No contacts pane, no configuration options for appearance (useful options that is). Plus Skype on my Samsung Galaxy no longer works (although I don't know what version it is now). It worked a few days ago.
