Trump thinks we can make iPhones in the US just like China. Yeah, right

Jflynn007

I figure I could build one iPhone every three days if someone loans me a soldering iron. Is that good enough?

Samsung co-CEO Han Jong-hee dies of heart attack at 63

Way too young

As someone who is now in my early 60s this hits close to home. I’m sure he worked long stressful hours and the reward is an early death. Many of us in the IT biz can relate I am sure. Granted I will never match his contributions.

Capital One two-day outage leaves customers in free-fall

Jflynn007

The vendor is FIS. Appears Capital One outsources quite a bit of their operations. Initially FIS said it was a power failure. That makes no sense, there should be all kinds of redundancies for a bank.

Copilot invades Microsoft 365 Personal and Family for an extra three bucks a month

MS somehow made this work without having to buy a new Copilot PC. WOW.

Seriously, we are done. They are charging for a solution looking for a problem.

I will have to test this if I can ever find Word on the Windows 11 start menu.

Intruders get their hands on user data in LastPass incident

Auditors beware

I am so warn down with cloud everything and trusting vendors that are sold and swapped like it is a game.

Every IT audit and cyber insurer requires one of these password services. Gone are the days of Excel-based password “vaults”. We laughed at them years ago, but in reality I long for the days of needing to hack my network to get the good stuff.

LastPass is a marketing machine that has been caught twice with their pants down. Yet the best practice is to rely on them with important corporate credentials.

Not sure how this is progress. I long for the days when we had password vaults on our network.

Kaseya’s VSA SaaS restart fails, service restoration delayed by at least ten hours

Jflynn007

Translated - “we developed a complex process to deal with cyber threats. Pull the power cord. ‘

The industry is now at a crisis situation. We cannot trust the vendors who are supposed to be helping to protect us. SolarWinds, Kaseya, and a number of other serious breaches (looking at you Exchange).

This guy is part of the problem. His company was hacked by some really evil people and we should feel sorry for him. Wonder if they will be refunding money to that small group of 1000+companies that are screwed?

Google to kill Chrome autoplay madness

Jflynn007

The auto play blocker in the Safari beta for High Sierra is somewhat effective and a better implementation than what Google is planning on. Haven't tried an iOS beta yet to see how well it works there. Nice thing is Safari is picking up a nice speed improvement.

Chrome has been my go to Windows browser. Might be time to look at Firefox again. These auto plays are brutal.
