That's odd. I thought the whole point of a nuclear sub was that it could stay submerged for weeks / months on end (basically as long as food/drink supplies last). Does it REALLY take a year to do maintenance on a sub
===
the maintenance i just ONE thing, once the ship has been away from sea for any length of time the crew need to come back up to speed and require training in ALL aspects of their duties before they are deemed fit to return, hence if you have four, one at sea, one heading back, one in maintenance, one in training is how it all runs
but the more people who use Tor, the more accommodating they will become.
==
Err, I THINK you will find that the more people that use TOR that the whole edifice will start to crumble as stupidity arrives in spades, just because a user has found TOR is NO indication they have any idea of WTF they are actually doing, and so they will whinge and whine, and eventually it will all be as easy as it is now outside TOR ffs :o( and not in a good way
Do you use an RFID card to unlock security doors or release gates at your workplace? Do they work every time? Of course they bloody don't. Half the time, you're standing in front of the door flourishing your card impotently across the sensor from different directions again and again, watching the red light flash repeatedly with an accompanying ugly audio bleat, as you duly recite the workplace mantra: "Fucking open the fuck up you fucking fucked fucker".

ROFLMAO
tonight actually, and TBH, there were a LOT more F's in MY mantra
I just asked my Amazon Alexa who Bill Godbout was. She had no idea but had told me earlier in response to a morning greeting that it was Mickey Mouse's birthday.

and THIS tells us more about the standing of IT in peoples lives than anything we shall read today, this along with Joe Publics breathtaking lack of knowledge on IT Sec makes me want to weep
RIP to one of the first to 'get it / IT' as it were
You Tube is believed to pull down between 10 and 15 BILLION $ per year ........................
it's been raking in this cash for over a decade, but now, when asked to ensure that the ones creating the product, are catered for / paid for or product removed .................
NOW it's all too much like hard work ........................
you have NO idea how hard I would be prepared to function to ensure that the goose kept on laying those golden returns ffs
On a related note, did the crowd-compute schemes for protein folding ever produce anything worthwhile, relative to the energy used?
===
the conspiracy types will tell you that everything that was found to be usefu lhas been stashed down the back of various couches until there is a decent reason [ read $$$$ ] for it to be 'discovered' :oP
known as CIS, in the inevitable military acronym.
===
and they do a decent job of solving the navies crimes too I hear :oP
===
And how do you KEEP it that way? Especially against both clandestine bridging and PHBs who don't know better?
===
because it's the military, and you do as you are told, even when it is not necessarily the right thing :o)
when all we had to worry about was that pesky flaming from the IRC thingy that the damn kids had come up with, mind you, with access being in the 56kbps, we were LUCKY to have flames, I barely raised smoke :oP
just re read this, and am now sitting waiting for the got wood remarks ffs, sometimes I go moist for the days of IRC
he pressured a woman he had worked with at Google, and had been romantically seeing, into performing oral sex on him in a hotel. He denied any wrongdoing
===
just wow - SHE gets screwed and HE gets the pay off
from this moment forward to be known as - she got googled ........................
Lets get this right. A Government IT project was completed within 6 months, for less than seven figures and came up with a tangible result. I'll put that down as an unqualified success, especially when compared to the myriad multi-million multi-year failures.
===
here's hoping they used a blockchain app in their process too
the ever gross Toilette a la Turque
===
first time coming across one was whilst working in Spain early 80's, was slightly [VERY] drunk, hobbled into toilet, seen what looked like a shower basin with a 6" plughole, and had to come out and shout to the barman that "someone's nicked ya bog matey" :o)
Just cancel the contract. Then set up a list of non allowed bidders for future contracts, changing the rules to allow this.
=========
then when Crapita come back at you, you tell them to go do one, or else, when they say -
"You and whose Army" just give them the 1000 yard stare :o)
He's like a gun manufacturer, not the shooter. Why is this poor sap being victimised?
====
because the gun makers have the NRA to back them up, this "poor sap" is on his own, IF, however, there IS a NMA - National Malware Association - then he would be quids in and still at liberty to bring down his mayhem on all concerned
It is disgusting that Assange is held, without trial in an effective jail for so long. Call ourselves civilised: 3rd world countries must be laughing at our hypocrisy.
=====
the only laughing the said 3rd world countries will be doing is at why TF we haven't had him topped yet ffs
the tag line made me laugh, so ICON for that
we had to 'upgrade' a bunch of dumb / thin clients to get them to 64MB each, there were around 150 units, the RAM was 'just' a pile of 32MB stickes to do a straight plug in, and due to the cost, the memory was delived by Securicor ..................................
and anyone else recall THOSE days when the Battle of Britain game was released, and the comics went into meltdown, because it NEEDED 128MB of RAM to play it .................... WHO is going to spend THAT sort of money just to play a game, was one such strapline IIRC :o)
and now under the cover of all the huffing and puffing from the various 3 letter agencies, and the ongoing he said to me, that she said to him, that you said to me ............................... shenaninigans from all the other 'interested' parties
Beijing will now most likely start THEIR engines and switch those little beasties ON :oP
Any device manufactured in California..
Well, thats going to help a lot.
======
it's a start, and bear in mind that California, on its OWN is the WORLDS 5th largest economy, it is quite a start too, but as El Reg has pointed out, they have gone for low lying fruit, and there were better options available :o(
Its argument? That the salesman only gets paid when the customer pays SAP and that he can only get commissions while still working at the company. So even though he did the work and closed the deals, the company didn't get paid until after it had fired him, so he didn't deserve any compensation.
=========
SO
reading that phrase over and over, all I need to do is be a bastard owner - sorry BofH :oP - get decent sales team, and sack them once they SELL, but before client PAYS, and I save an absolute fortune .............. ?
I may be reading it wrong, has been known, but seriously, what kind of Co would even THINK that et alone try and use it IN COURT to justify not paying ffs
The contents of how many Olympic swimming pools would it take per satellite?
A number that would take up an area roughly the size of Wales.
====
Couldn't we just launch Wales ? :oP
what ever strikes it isn't going to make that much impact, and may well improve the vista :o)
SO, what can we take from this ?
basically, if you want FREE, TOTAL pen tested devices. with EVERY vuln listed, then claim it as hacker proof, and wait...............
not too long either :o)
and personally, getting DOOM to play on my new tech would be a nice addition, I would have packaged that bad boy up as a bonus feature LOL
Should DraftKings be able to unmask the attackers, the company plans to sue each for violation of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.

so far as I can see, this appears to be the classic open and shut case, Co was DDOS'ed, they have IP's of those involved, so surely the ISP should just hand over details, and lets all head to court, but wasn't there an issue a wee while back where the bad guys 'spoofed **' the IP's ? so how are they SO certain that these addresses are THE addresses they are looking for?
** not sure of the correct term
it won't be pre-installed with Win-10-nic
it won't slurp your private data
it won't flash advertisements in your face
[I'll stop now]

then you connect to the interwebz, it updates, and BAM, you are now back in the rat race, the daily SPAM will be along shortly, albeit very slowly :o)
