The US poster stated 25-30k km's per year, I do approx 28,000 miles per annum here in the UK.
Whilst I have a driveway, I also have a 40A mains fuse listed building for a house. The wiring is so bad the smart meter people popped in to install a meter (my wife let the b'stards in while I was away!), looked at the setup and left, muttering that we needed the whole lot changed & that the mains inlet wiring didn't meet minimum specs.
My town has 4 public EV chargers available, 2 at a car dealer for patrons only (well, the demo cars at any rate) and two at the local primary school, restricted parking, locked gates at night. Next nearest are 25 miles away. Local public transport can get me to my work by about 10am if I leave at 6.30am (the first bus out).
I replace my car next year, it'll be another large diesel. As will its replacement.
