Re: Don't get worked up over each other
It's kinda hard to whinge on about how warm it is when your freezing your nuts off waiting to catch the Bus into Work, in the Morning. And not look like a complete douche while attempting to do so.

Flawed argument is seriously flawed... Or I must not live in the same dimension as the Op, where both Google, and Amazon. Live on the same plain as an AT&T, or Comcast. Which unlike them (Google, and Amazon), actually ARE ISPs.
Sorry if I fail to equate AWS with an ISP. As far as Google Fiber goes... Call me back whenever the manage to gain any real traction with that. A few Poduck Towns exclusive to the USA does not an ISP on the level of the BIG BOYs make.
But, hay don't let me disrupt your wonderful narrative....
So anyone who's against removing Net Neutrality. Thinks the likes of Netflix should be given a pass for all the Traffic they eat up? While paying the same freight charges as the Website to SpaceJam? Which probably is lucky to see traffic in the 10s of visitors a year. Something doesn't seem right about this.
Tiered Internet memes from 2014 (i.e. you can only visit this Site if you've paid us that amount), would be shut down faster than the next ISP that decided NOT to do that to their customers.
And, again... The so-called "hindrance" of free sprach? Seems to me... That if you just happen to hold some unpopular opinion... *cough* MAGA *cough*, or your just reasonable enough to recognize that most lifeforms have just the TWO SEXES... (And, anything else is a mental health issue). Than yeah... Let us speak of this mythical freedom of speech thing, and how repealing Obummer era Net Neutrality is somehow gonna place an even greater burden on said freedom.
Seems to me the Internet got on just fine between it's inception, and what was it? 2015 when Obummer signed the Bill. >Implying the Internet will die with it's repeal. Perhaps you lot should stop over reacting, and read the FCC proposal instead.
That said, they should not just toss this idea away because a few Dev will get their Fefees hurt. Because they decided to take a shortcut instead of writing precisely targeted Code. That doesn't have to rely on such shortcuts, which may (or may not), also open the Door to other bad actors.
So this time at least I will side on the Chocolate Factory on this Issue.
Replacing the Company Laptop? Yep talking of a real slice of Pie in the Sky stuff here... Implying I want to use a 5lb re-education tool to hammer up a Nail to hang my Pictures on the Wall. But, in this case it would be in reverse..
Just 'cause you might be able to replace your Laptop wit a Phablet... It's probably still not entirely desirable to actually do it.
Ok forget Windows.. Has there ever been any real work done to port anything like BSD, or a proper Linux to those Atom powered Devices.
Hell it's depressing as Hell that Canonical ended up going with some no-name brand, and only sold their Phones in some British DIY Shop that traditionally doesn't sell those types of things (e.g. Phones). Thus further insuring their utter failure.
Knowing Samsung they'll make all the right noises about it coming out in some future update. That everyone will end-up hanging on their Phones for the next 6 - 8 Months for. Only to learn that this will be an exclusive feature of the Galaxy 9 Note. (And, that will be if someone in Seoul actually gives a toss about a feature, that arguably 99% of their userbase couldn't give a rats behind about.
Well the nuked Top Gear... And now their doing the same with Doctor Who*. Didn't they also lose Bake Off as well? Seems all they have left are shows about Fleamarket (Bootsales), and reprocessed homes under the B&Hammer. Yeah I don't think I'm missing much either.
And since the last time I checked BBC4 was nothing but, bunch of repeates from >2010. Again saw all that crap before they cut the spot beam down. Thus ending my viewing of those Channels via Freesat.
*I shall probably stop watching this nonsense after the Christmas Special. What a shame the BBC wasted such a great actor for this role.... But, this could be said of anyone post Davidson.
That said this was One Shark too many...
Yeah... 'Cause that kind of thinking has kept the like of S0NY (PSP, PS3, PSV, and PS4), safe from any, and all whoever had an interest in hacking such a Device. Perhaps our good friends at John Deer, will find a way to criminalize the act of simply trying to attempt a cheaper DIY Job, instead of opting for the more expensive Dealership Garage to do it for you.
~For example, how can one be sure the government can't subvert every phone using their airwaves if all radio chips must go through them first?~
Thus we have a reason why these Companies such as Purism exist for. It's up to you if you think that they are trusty enough, or not.
A real Third Option is to NOT support Companies that pull this kind of crap. Which may on the face of it seem harder than it seems. But, I gather that this is only on the newer CPUs.
I down voted you while your 'Heart' may well be with-in the PCZ (Political Correctness Zone), simply miming out the motions wont make anyone more secure in the end. In the end you only have but, Two options. Either do the job, you were tasked to do, Or find someone else who can. Making chimp like noises about having done much about nothing, and in the grand scheme of things serves no purpose other then to trick the schmo into buying whatever snake oil is on tap that day.
While it may well be regarded as a better fix then not having done anything at all... it would have at least been more useful had this lot targeted Windows instead. Not that I have anything against Linux. But, like it or not, Windows is still the workplace king.
So with this thought in mind... Tell us how you feel about MicroSoft force feeding their mostly untested, possibly unwanted 'Updates' on everyone.
So Your 'Ideal World' kinda took a misstep. Namely clued in end-users Capable of maintaining their own Machines. So I said before. I would wonder how compliant these Organizations would all become, had there actually been some rather painful discomfort to their bottom lines. And, not merely the gentle massage of the Pinkie their usually accustomed to. Case in point such idiot outfits out there that still think using Windows XP, Three, and a half plus Years is still somehow a good idea. Till they get hit upside the head with Wannacry.
