Why the 'feudal' tech monopolies run rings around competition watchdogs

Re: What a surprise

"I would classify 70% of his writings as ramblings of a raving lunatic. "

I disagree. I would say 80%, and more of a raving maniac, than lunatic.

But, this article is actually quite thoughtful and interesting and has valid points. Personally I would put in the 20% of good articles category.

As insane as the Germans are on other social policies, they never bend over for Uncle Sam the way the UK does. Good on them.

<insert word>'tard

1. ...this is the boss of PepsiCo,... perhaps she is slightly more informed than your average <insert word>'tard on twitter or el reg preacher.

2. ...if women don't want to buy the crisps they won't. if men do want to buy the crisps they will, and the crisps will be rebranded for men. if nobody buys them they will make no money and be axed. the problem solves itself.

Virtual insanity

I'd like to be the first to virtue signal, and show my peers how decent a human being I am by saying that Julian Assange is a <insert generic baseless insult>, and therefore I am a nice guy and support <insert trending sjw causes> and/or <rampant patriotism>.

Thanks.

Can we start using the word "peeptards" instead?

Balanced.

I opened this article expecting a lopsided Orlowski trollfest. I was pleasantly surprised that it is a balanced article. Well done Reg.

Tired of despairing of Trump and Brexit? Why not despair about YouTube stars instead?

Re: Despair over Brexit and Trump?

Oh how people forget so quickly.

The Brexit vote had nothing to do with the EU to many people, as illogical as it sounds.

It is the first time in an entire generation that people can practice true democracy - one vote counts. So people use the vote to protest about practically anything, some of it legitimate, some of it completely unrelated.

The system is broken, and has been for a long time. Politicians and BBC media shouldn't get upset when people find a way to game the system (and unfortunately vote for something ridiculous), when that same system has been used to game the people for so long.

It's the same with Trump. Many people simply wanted something different to happen. They dont know the details, or even care, but just want someone different incharge, just to try it out and see what happens.

Hate them if you want, but a continual refusal by mainstream media to acknowledge the way real people think and act, is what got us into this situation in the first place.

Reasonable Trolling

The problem, Kieren, with writing an article that claims to be decrying the unreasonable outrage and bias that people have been using to talk about this issue.... and writing it in such an obviously biased and outraged way, is that it just comes across as you trolling, and trying to have another go at the people you don't like.

It's the equivalent of a humble-brag. (Everyone know's you are bragging, but you think you are being humble). This article is a reasonable-trolling - (Everyone know's you are trolling - even though we might agree with you - but you think you are being reasonable).

@TheElder

That is a wonderfully written article!

The author links to 9 research papers to support her claims. I wish the BBC and the ultra left-wing libtards would actually read some research!

Feel Good

Many of the people decrying the memo (such as BBC), have refused to link to it, and just toss about general comments such as "he is a bigot", and "he has cherry picked studies", without addressing any of the points he raised, or without refuting any of the 'cherry-picked' studies.

I wish people would just admit "We hate him because it makes us feel good. Not because he is wrong".
