Our company did an evaluation of updating our two hundred laptops. Total replacement is required for 95% of them. The CEO bought a new machine outside the normal purchasing process, LOL. We also evaluated rewriting, testing, and upgrading or replacing our forty custom apps. The laptops hardware was under a million. The retesting, and software stuff was about 4 million. So the answer is no. We will stick with windows 10 until we have no other choice. Luckily, I retired in less than five years!

Have to use SMB 1.0? Windows 10 April 2018 Update says NO

I have an old Seagate 4-bay NAS (Actually a LaCie NAS in disguise) and since the first update in September have not been able to SMB connect to my NAS. I can connect by typing the IP address i and get logged into the administrative console. But the problem is the version of linux that this machine is using only know about SMB 1.0 and it been ages sicne Seagate updated this piece of hardware. So my only option is to get a new NAS and copy everything over to it and abandon this reliable piece of hardware

Re: Headaches for IT

We are just starting Windows 8 testing now! We should be done by 2020.

Re: Headaches for IT

Our review process requires 10 business groups to test and verify against known product test suites for accuracy. Then this is repeated in 16 countries. Each review costs us about 2.7 million and takes 11 years. We are planning for Windows 10 testing to start in 2031 and be completed in 2050.

The upgrade installs with no errors. After final restart there is no networking. Microsoft 2nd level support says The specific versions of the atherosclerosis and relate key chips are not supported. So I am able to backgrade to 1613 but will receive no further feature updates. Reccomendationid to purchase a Toshiba laptop manufactured later than July 2017.

Toshiba C50-A has same issue as hp

My Toshiba c50-A has been running at 80 to 90% since I installed the update on Thursday. System host processes seem to be responsible for a majority. I can't even move the mouse. Sql server telemetry is using 10-20% every three minutes for about 5 minutes.

Five months and special kernel software need for network

Got my update this weekend. No network access. Hours searching. Event logs indicate additional kernel software required for network drivers. Tech at MS store suggested MS does not support older hardware that has been orphaned by the manufacturer. My latop is three years old. My solution roll back to 1607 then Administrative Tools | services | Update and disable update service the service and stop the service. This should block the updates. I think I will wait for the updatein 2199! I got additional kernel software and hardware to address my upgrade issues its called an Apple iPad 9.7!
