BBC said it'll pull radio streams from TuneIn to slurp more of your data but nobody noticed till Amazon put its foot in it

Yorkshirefoxy

Here’s something we wanted to impose on you because listeners don’t matter to us!

Well, I’ve complained to the BBC about the piece of garbage they call Sounds and that they can’t have an alarm function it’s too difficult for them to program! Sounds UI is atrocious, as someone with a visual impairment I find it laughable you have this floating element when live music is being played. iPlayer Radio was functional but hey! We need to get down with the kids to show we know how they think? I’m all for progress but Sounds isn’t the way forward. They should sack the jerk who ok’d this garbage and the design and programming team for having the audacity to think this is a quality piece of work. Quit while you’re ahead and give us back iPlayer Radio!

Re: Fancy that

Marconi was solvent with £1B in the bank when led by Lord Weinstock (It was called GEC before it became Marconi). Then Lord Simpson arrived and basically did everything that the city boys wanted and went on a spending spree so that the city could get their snouts in the troth of a once great company. Basically Simpson made the company go bust, but the City got their pay off!

Cost of ownership

Now that IBM have moved over to the Mac, the NHS needs to the same. Lower costs for supporting Macs compared to Windows. The equipment lasts longer. You can then build upon this by integrating IPads & iPhones for recording data on wards for peripatetic services and feed it all into FileMaker. Discuss!

Re: UK sales to US

Don’t forget we also sold the Canberra bomber and the Hawk trainer to the US as well.

Pontefract Monkhill

I’ve used this station quite a lot to go to Leeds as Pontefract is where I grew up.

Try getting a train to Kings Cross from there on a Saturday only to be told there are no trains back on Sunday. Grand Central trains want your money but want to leave you in London.

Why waste your time in LA when you can have your conference in God’s Own Country!

Harrogate is classy or you can go to the fleshpots in Leeds or Sheffield. Go for a curry in Bradford and then have your fish and chips in Whitby!

You can relax on Scarborough’s beach and feel the warmth of the North Sea between your toes and if you have a sweet tooth may I suggest a trip to Pontefract to pick up your Pontefract Cakes.

You see LA isn’t in Yorkshire so why would you go there?

In the filing cabinet

When I worked for a charity it was all about outcomes and proving everything. We used to hand our documents in to our managers and we never heard anything back about them. They’re probably in a filing cabinet gathering dust. All this information they gather in education will have the same outcome. It’s just keeping managers and civil servants in a job.

Sir Humphrey Goes Digital

When managers don’t understand something they want to control it even more. Just say it’s a bunch of iPhones/iPads and they’ll leave you alone. The less they know the better the outcome. If only a large rock could smash into managerland and make them all extinct! You could get all the Sir Humphrey’s to have a meeting with them at the same time, job done!

Audiophiles have really taken to the warm digital tone of streaming music

Streaming

I listen to music on Tidal & Apple Music. I’ve just upgraded my Linn turntable and will be buying more vinyl. Streaming is great for convenience & finding new music but vinyl is best for actually listening to music.

Scobleised

The fact you are told by a lawyer not to say anything that may incriminate you and you go ahead says what an idiot you really are!

Calling out your accusers is total insanity but is something I believe to be in his character. One of arrogance and perhaps a touch of self loathing. When I have seen him on TWIT I always got the feeling he was on the edge of the precipice, urging himself to go over the edge. Thinking that he would fly rather than thudding into the ground making a mess! As far as his accusers are concerned that’s up to the court to decide.

Got a Windows Phone 8 mobe? It's now officially obsolete. Here's why...

Craptastic Nokia 420

When I worked for a charity we had to use Windows and of course Windows phones. Enter the craptastic Nokia 420 the phone that didn't keep giving.

Funny how the IT team used Android phones but we mere mortals had to cope with something that even a Galapagos Tortoise could outrun.

Windows Phone is dead? How did it take so long to die?
