As someone living with a handicap that make reading The Registers website hard, even when blocking ad's and being in the lucky category that 80%+ of us is unemployed, blocking ad blockers is basically telling me to fuck off and die, because I'm not welcome in the modern electronic world and it's the only world I have left, as going out the door is constantly telling me to fuck of and die as I'm to much trouble.

Google's SPDY blamed for slowing HTTP 2.0 development
PHD is unfortunately one of those people that know enough about tech to be dangerous, he will decide that night is better than day because you can better see stars at night and therefore anyone doing anything in daylight unrelated to star watching got it wrong.
Makes it hard to know if SPDY has a problem or it's simply a case of PHD having a problem with something else Google has done.
JJ Abrams and Star Wars: I've got a bad feeling about this
The Force is always with Star Wars, it's just an utterly brilliant setup.
I once heard a story about Columbus and people saying anyone could discover USA, where he ask people to put an egg upright, after failed attempts he picks up the egg and smashes it so just the end breaks leaving it upright. One comment that he could have done that and Columbus respond something like "you didn't".
George Lucas got the idea and made it come to life, unfortunately we have a sad group of egoistical assholes that somehow thought because they enjoyed watching some children movie when they were kids and in some weird reality distortion filter forgot Star Wars was never Blade Runner or some other epic grown up movie, they had RIGHT's and it was wrong of GL to keep making children movies and toys and whatever else kids stuff has been branded with Star Wars.
It's not about Ewoks and Jar Jar Binks, it's the FACT that the Jedi tries to be nice to them that matters, most of the movies we get shown all kinds of reasons why the bad guys is bad, but until Jar Jar Binks, we never got any example of the Jedi's being nice.
Beating on Jar Jar Binks, is like beating on a mentally retarded kid, it just show how much of an asshole you are.

Python-lovers sling 'death threats' at UK ISP in trademark row
Re: This is exactly what I expect from the Python community
The Python community, like many other online communities, is a bunch of self-rightious, self-important, imature gits, who still manage to think that they are God's own gift to civilization.
You couldn't be more wrong, you simply don't have the brain capacity as a normal person to understand the geek community. The idiot is people like you who don't understand how to forget a post the second after you have read/typed it. You carry around your venom, burning you up.
I can argue with other geeks and they will still buy me a pint after. The fact I don't drink beer is most likely more an offence than I called them a pile of bantha poodoo.
Software sucks these days - and just maybe it's all YOUR fault
I have some thirty years of coding experience.
Looking at my old code and it calculates 2+2 just fine, but it present the output in binary. The program is totally useless in the modern world. We have learned a lot in the past 30 years and can do much better.
Try comparing something like Zork to a modern adventurer game, the difference is gigantic in the amount of data and code Skyrim or whatever adventurer game deal with, compared to Zork's where you could write down every choice on a small piece of paper.
Our current technology doesn't allow humans to deal with the complexity of modern software development in a way so they can make bug free code within a reasonable budget and time frame.
A simple thing like doubling the number of developers on a project, doesn't mean you get double the amount of code written. We have reached a human complexity bottleneck that no one has yet managed to break through.
FBI says Apple ID heist claim is TOTALLY FALSE

Re: As with all American presidents...
I think the US has lost it's cold world power that arguable made it the leader of the "free world".
The problem is bad US leadership might be better than the current situation of no leadership.

Whatever else is going on I think it's sad that people pull the "rape" stuff out.
He went with a willing woman to his room and had sex. Then slept with her and in the morning had sex again. The reason their is a case is because he didn't use a condom the second time.
There is no sexual assault or rape going on here.
So I very much understand why he thinks there is something fishy going on with the case. Even if he is convicted all he will get is a slap on the wrist. (Few $ fine)
The iPhone 4S in depth: More than just a vestigial 'S'
Anyway, if you want any sort of quality photo you need a proper dedicated camera.
Actually, the real key to good pictures is light. If you add 100K light equipment and use an Phone camera you can take amazing pictures.
It can never beat a 100K camera + 100K light equipment, but you need to be an expert to tell the difference, just like not everyone can hear the difference between good and bad sound systems.
Nokia sues Apple over iPhone

Fair use of patents for once
Apple pays some company, Nokia sues some company and wins.
Apple has thrown money out the window to a company that didn't really have the right to license out the stuff.
Nokia contacts Apple to get their RIGHTFUL compensation, but Apple refuses so Nokia sues.
All the patents is invented and used by Nokia and is actually a case of when the patent system works sanely, it's not like Apples stupid software patents, but real invented hardware patents and simply a case where Apple got screwed by a company that didn't have the right to license what they sold Apple.
Why Apple doesn't pay, is confusing most people, because it's quite clear that Apple is going to loss the case. Maybe there is some economical advantage for Apple in delaying the years a complicated trial takes, because otherwise it seems like, to the industry at large, they are paying lawyers to loss a trial.

Gentoo cuts key parts of itself from net for its own good
The machine compromised is web viewed data only
To the best of my knowledge their is no download data involved in the machine.
The purpose of the machine is archive of mailing list, overview of all packages and stuff like that, thats only viewed as web pages, so the worst thing to happen would be compromised web pages with malware.
Security of a distribution is done through using multiple computers, so high risk applications doesn't effect critical aspect like the downloads that all Gentoo users, use to install/update the system.
