Pure: Let's be direct about attached storage. Hyperconvergence is not for us

"we can be profitable whenever we want"??? No you can't, not when you're paying HP, Dell & NetApp's B & C players enormous money to come over in hopes they'll bring their account lists...not realizing that C players have bad account lists. Can't believe some of the salaries they have paid people that were on PIP's with other companies. This is why they can't turn a profit, and will be owned by someone else in the next 18 months. Decent product...terrible execution to market.

Re: Only one real winner

Pretty sure that despite being private, Dell still releases audited financials to the public....presumably because they'll eventually be spinning off pieces again, but I digress.

Re: HPE v HP

HPE is losing market share in pretty much every category according to all the big data analysts...not sure where exactly they're winning? I mean the market is certainly getting better all around, and I suspect business "feels" good for a lot of companies, but to say HPE is winning on a global scale flies in the face of all the data out there. Perhaps you're just a great rep and winning in your accounts?

Re: HCI is more expensive than traditional SAN + servers

"HCI is more expensive than the tradition architecture, that without a reason, there are no financial benefits for the customer"

Only if you don't value the benefit of time and expense of your employees managing the HCI. If it takes less time to manage and support...that's worth something isn't it?

Re: Is this a joke?

at the time of the Dell EMC merger announcement, EMC and Cisco announced an addition 5 year engineering partnership. Competitors? Yes. But when Dell EMC CI accounts for 30%+ of all UCS sales, and it is such a large growth engine for EMC, now Dell EMC...neither is going anywhere soon. Customers trump all else.

Maybe I'm missing something, but is there anything ground breaking here? ...trying to figure out exactly what feature they describe isn't a neutered version of what is already available in a Nutanix or VxRail HCI?
